  1. I saw a decent organ trio at a place called Detour down in Alphabet City a couple years back. No cover or minimum either. It was nice. I can't remember who was in the band though. Anyone familiar with this place?
  2. Thanks!
  3. Amazing.
  4. Any other details? What are the dates? Setlists?
  5. You'd think it'd gotten there before the Switzerland relay was complete, wouldn't you?
  6. So I'm an idealist...
  7. re: track four. What would you all say if I told you it was just one person?
  8. Good to see everyone is getting mail. I've opened up a second thread for disc two as requested. Is that customer service or what?
  9. I'm hoping that people won't immediately associate the tune with that album and identify the organist based on what they hear, rather than what they remember. I thought it would be a good blindfold track for that reason!
  10. I would like to hear some stories, Chuck, if you could. I think we all knew it was coming, but I imagine its been hard to see what's next for a quite some time now. Jimmy Smith was the originator and there hasn't been a next since he arrived, from what I can hear. I'm new to the sounds of the Hammond B-3, but I've been shocked in the best possible way by his music over the past few years.
  11. That is FUCKING AWESOME AfricaBrass! So nice.
  12. Now available, by popular demand!
  13. Yeah, that's ok. That tends to be the tone of these blindfold discussions. I understand. Well, if you wouldn't mind, on second listen, maybe trying to highlight some of the things that you do like, or do find interesting. I always tend to learn more by stretching myself to find something I do appreciate, rather than deconstructing the things I don't. Of course, if you can't find anything to like, do say so!
  14. That is excellent. Already a favorable impression. Maybe they can blow through Rhode Island with a four day tour and I'll buy the discs at the gig.
  15. All of the track information will show up if you put this disc into your computer. That is what I meant by ID tags. I'm glad to see we've got a little discussion going already!
  16. Larry, What label is the Arrive s/t on? I am interested in this recording. Thanks. Cary
  17. You know, the first time I heard that track I thought it sounded like Willie Nelson. Son of a gun, I should have typed that in! Oh well...
  18. No, but I was well known in college as Fluffhead.
  19. itunes is also free. Very nice software. Click Here.
  20. Alright, I've gotten a couple of private messages already, so I assume many of you have already received your discs. Some very perceptive listeners, I must say! Please don't forget, I left all the ID tags in there in case anyone wants to re-use the tracks further on down the road. Just don't peek, or you'll miss out on the whole point of the blindfold test, which is to stretch your ears a bit. I included a little something for everyone I hope, and realized afterwards that I'd left off a couple of things that I really wanted to include by including things that I didn't plan on including! Anyway, hope y'all enjoy.
  21. Yeah man. Same timeframe.
  22. That is a good live album. Unfortunately, the band will never sound like that again... One of my favorite albums of all time, uncategorically: Lots of history I guess, but good solid rock music. They were a great band to see back then too.
  23. I heard Monaco on the radio one day on the way into work. He floored me! I'll bite on this one. Can you guys think of other organ dvds that are good? I've seen a dvd under Bill Stewart's name that has him duetting with Larry Goldings. That is a pretty sweet video.
  24. Alright, so DG has 'fessed up. We'll open up discussion here shortly on #23. I think we've got everybody in at this point. Its just a matter of time before everybody gets there copies. So you know, I left all the ID tags in there in case anyone wants to re-use the tracks further on down the road. We'll talk soon.
  25. Remember SOUNDTRACK TO HUMAN MOTION? "Jamo Meets Samo?"
