  1. Garzone is the man. I discovered him through a friend's recommendation to check out the drumming of Bob Gullotti a few years ago. You guys have to check out IT'S TIME FOR THE FRINGE on Soul Note 1992. If you are listening for some soprano work, check him out on Matthias Lupri SHADOW OF THE VIBE.
  2. Not true! You heard a cut from the aforementioned album on my blindfold test!
  3. Jon! Very timely. Thank you for the recommendations. Is this a Save Tonic thing? I will be in NYC next weekend. Any recommedations?
  4. That one is ok. Actually, that one is awesome. Thanks for considering my feelings.
  5. No package yet... everyday I come home from work, more excited about the mail, than the dog is to see me... no package from the kingdom...
  6. JB, can you recommend me some Brandlmayr? I love Too Beautiful To Burn. Anyone else with recommendations is obviously welcome! Thanks!
  7. Please, no more images of Michael Jackson or I will have to start a thread about this. Hopefully we can agree that enough is enough Tony. I've had it up to here with you. Well, not up to here, more like up to here, but you catch my drift. No more!
  8. Thanks Noj for the response. And how's about posting some of that great painting you do to cheer everyone up. Thanks Jim. Glad you are enjoying the tunes. Any opportunity to TALK ABOUT MUSIC is good by me!
  9. Honestly, what is this all about? I don't have time to read EVERY GD post to find out that so and so called so and so a poo poo rose! I think a lot of us are able to maintain a very civilized community here, and I don't think Jim should be held responsible to police the damn thing. Some people need to go elsewhere to blow off steam. Take up an instrument or something. This isn't the place! Unless you are talking about ANWR, not Anwar from American Idol.
  10. OK, maybe the answers are obvious to some, but I have to ask them anyway... Who is Dizzyspells? What the hell is going on? Why is Dizzyspells trying to involve the entire board? Do I really have to click on the "moderated" aric thread to find out? If it isn't proper etiquette to post the answers here, someone can PM me. Happy St. Patrick's Day! p.s. Flurin, I was so intimidated by you that I posted my BFT 23 Disc Two answers without proofreading. You are a bully. I am a wimp. I will gladly pay you today for two hamburgers tomorrow. Only kidding. Maybe you know what's going on?
  11. Sorry! I wasn't clear. I think JazzKat is rubbing off on me... I have the Larry Young recording. I'm looking for a copy of the Walt! My bad.
  12. I think you mean Lawrence of Newark. Unless you mean Walt Dickerson. If this is the case, I've got first dibs.
  13. I guess I missed a lot. I've always had signatures turned off. SS1, I think its time you chill out. You got your man. Great job. Leave it alone.
  14. Mike, what years are we talking about here? Is this all pre-1967? I liked the sound of that BFT #8 track.
  15. I was listening to this again today. Is any of that Jack Wilson Roy Ayers stuff available on CD? I have a Roy Ayers disc that I'm not all that fond of. Stone Soul Picnic. The musicianship is great, but the music is dated. I like the soft mallets that he is using here.
  16. I included a solo Monk take from Thelonious Himself, and people still missed it! Actually, I didn't remember you including this version! I love this song.
  17. Man, I was listening to your blindfold today driving around, and I had to play this track a few times. Wow. I love the stationary feeling that the drummer (now I know it is Nasheet Waits) creates during his solo. He's got a lot going on there, very propulsive. I'm not familiar, at all, with Hersch, and listening to this track makes me think I am missing some great music.
  18. Seriously, what was the question. I don't think I'm the only one who doesn't know what you were asking. And sorry in advance for the vague answer, but 7/4 knew EXACTLY what I was talking about. Maybe we should ask him. Hey 7, which ones would you say are the good ones? I used to like the green ones, then I realized they all tasted the same and the color didn't matter anymore.
  19. Got those too John! Chuck's always good for a blind pick. Usually, I'll order a couple and have him pick a couple. Works out well! Thanks Chuck. I'm looking forward to hearing this recording.
  20. Larry B! What's up! Thanks John. Actually, I have all of those except the Vons. I've heard a Von record at a friend's house and really felt it, so I'll be taking your advice. And now back to our regularly scheduled programming.
  21. Noted. I have a list going for a nice stack of new music after this week's paycheck. This sounds like a good buy. Larry, can you recommend me a couple of items from the Nessa catalog as well? Hopefully not too off-topic and thanks for the recommendation!
  22. Me? The good ones are over there. Beside the ones that aren't so bad. See? Right across from the great ones back there by the thing. Those are the good ones. That's what I'd say.
  23. I loved those photos, and would love to have been there. I can only imagine the sound.
  24. Honestly, though, I think that is a real challenge for the newer generations of musicians out there. You know Joe. I'm looking at your disc now and you are credited on quite a few compositions. Too many good musicians are looking to modern pop/rock for "the new standard." I've been saying this for a little while, and I'm new to all of this music anyway (less than a decade) so what do I know, but I say "the new standard" is ORIGINAL COMPOSITION.
