  1. Fwiw, one of the (groups of) videos that I noticed was missing was the Frank Rosolino "Jazz Scene USA" performances that have been commercially available. Oops- it was actually Dailymotion where I had seen those Rosolino videos.

So... did Warhol stand up when he painted, or did he do like Jackson Pollock and... um... crouch...? (Sorry Al- this can only detract from what you posted. )

  14. Fwiw, one of the (groups of) videos that I noticed was missing was the Frank Rosolino "Jazz Scene USA" performances that have been commercially available. However, I had also noticed the disappearance of a bunch of videos uploaded by a jazz guitarist in Holland that I'd been following. That could be coincidental to whatever else may be going on, I suppose. Never having uploaded myself, I wonder if there are limitations to the number of videos one can upload. Also, after viewing one of the videos by this guitarist, I noticed that there was some sort of automated display of samples (some were directly related to the video I had watched, such as other guitar players playing the same tune; and some were not only completely unrelated, but shockingly so- such as a "lesbian kiss" video ) which immediately followed. Strange. As far as searching, I'm not sure, but I'm not aware that you can do "advanced" types of searches (hopefully that will come). I just hope they don't screw it up completely (you can still search using quotation marks for specific phrases, unlike some other sites).
  15. The site was just down for a day or so, for some sort of revamping/improvement. Upon returning today, I don't really see anything new or improved (except that some of my favorite videos seem to have vanished... not sure if that's a coincidence or not). Anybody notice anything different?

  18. Definitely not "new", but there may yet be a lot of folks (moreso out east) who are not yet hip to... Charlie Baty is one of the few guitar players on the planet who is as versatile and accomplished in blues and swing as the aforementioned Mr. Robillard. I've always preferred Charlie- he's more fiery and unpredictable (been listening to him for 25 years, and he rarely repeats himself), and he doesn't waste any time with vocals. He leaves that to Rick Estrin. Not that Duke is a bad singer, but...

  25. Hey Dan, sorry I haven't gotten around to responding yet. I just got back from two weeks on Maui. We're still busy tying up loose ends around here, and I'll be away again for part of this month (not sure exactly when as of now), but I guess I'll have enough time to listen, post my usual incoherent babble, and proceed to wonder how I missed 97% of the answers. I'll PM ya.
