  11. One of the best bands on the planet. Live it's even more extraordinary.
  12. Oliver Wiendling, director of the current Vortex, is tweeting that David Mossman died yesterday. He established the old Vortex in Stoke Newington Church Street as one of London's premier venues for live Jazz of all stripes but with particular support for the freer end of the spectrum. I heard many, many great nights of music there - Parker/Lytton/Guy released on Emanem; introductions to Dave Douglas and Tim Berne. I had reason to assist in a small way with the promotion of the club and every month was lucky to meet David and have a chat. A lovely man.
  13. I came to that conclusion today. Some of the 80s production gets in the way but the songs are pretty strong. Can't remember what I thought of it on release. I do remember the gig on the tour was great
  14. first two and half tracks are really good. Kicks off with a short solo take on 'The Call' from the Grimes ESP date then we're fairly straight ahead, clarinet to the fore, nice support from the others, nothing to frighten the neighbours...unless it's all change on track 4
  15. Goodbye to a great songwriter. RIP Pete Shelley
  16. Give me a day or two, a copy arrived in the post today
  17. Nu Creative Methods - Nu Creative Dances [Souffle Continu]
  18. Cool, and I missed Limpe Fuchs playing with Eva Parker at Oto earlier this year. Love Anima's 'Monte Alto' which is the only one I've heard
  19. Bruce Springsteen - Darkness On The Edge Of Town [CBS] sitting on the top deck of the bus home anticipating the first play. Forty years ago...
  20. It is. So many memories with these songs
  21. inspired by reading the autobiography. I just realised that these two albums bookended my Bruce purchasing
  22. Really enjoying the early chapters of this and hoping it stays such a good read. Inevitably revisiting the early albums that meant so much to me so long ago now and enjoying them again for the first time in a long time
  23. "Parker's Sonic Imagination" anyone?
  24. Makaya McCraven - Where We Come From [International Anthem/Total Refreshment] the sound of young London and Chicago in perfect harmony...
