  1. Jazz Crusaders - Pacific Jazz Quintet Studio Sessions, disc 5 [Mosaic] Sound on this is great and the music so good. A set I should play more often.
  2. Thanks, fabulous album
  3. The Brubecks Graham Haynes Marcus Gilmore, grandson of Roy. Are we allowing 3rd gen? Eric Mingus TS Monk Nas, if we're moving outside Jazz. Olu Dara's son Caspar Brotzmann Denardo Coleman Joshua Redman Clark Tracey Karen Mantler
  4. Bought for a tenner in the same sale as Sidewinder... Whatever makes you think that 😄 kind of connected, bought my ticket for Tolliver celebrating Max as part of LJF, should be interesting to see him again. British band otherwise, looks like
  5. Jason Roebke - Four Spheres
  6. David Murray Octet - Ming Inspired by discussion in the Vinyl thread. First time in years, this was a big album for me in my early Jazz listening days
  7. I hadn't heard about that at all. I've never been entirely convinced by PP's bona fides and this only adds to my feelings. I also never got on with their mastering of the SE and Nimbus West titles I bought from them, always a bit bright and loud for my ears.
  8. I bet, I'd forgotten Han
  9. Wolfgang Lackerschmid - Mallet Connection [pläne, Germany 1978]
  10. Ensemble Fields Karner Klaffenböck - Inspiration Improvisation Intonation Tradition [Granit Records, Austria 1985]
  11. I'll give it a spin. Schweizer with Leandre and Maggie Nichols was the most fun and humorous improv gigs I've seen. Not a lot of competition of the humorous front it has to be said, except perhaps Alan Wilkinson solo
  12. Thank you both, added to the 'to buy' list
  13. How's the sound quality on that?
  14. Pleased to see it eventually arrived Prompted me to play the one disc I have yet to hear 'Nights On Saturn'
  15. Orchestre National de Jazz and Steve Lehman at the Vortex Stunning concert, so much going on musically. Boulez meets Jackie Mac with Grachan and Bobby H, with some M-base in a big band with Murail and Grisey having a big say. Very original.
  16. No, I can't. Have you looked in Atlantis? They often have some interesting stock additions on Insta but it tends to be more "World" music rather than what you're after but there have been blues, folk and country represented, not in great numbers mind.
  17. Never liked the original much but this version is hilariously good
  18. Yes and all the better for that, a great thread to stop by every now and again
  19. Listening for the first time...another reason to thank this place
  20. I like what I heard of her on the new David Murray so shall investigate this one
