DREAMS SO REAL that which is now so real should never be considered commonplace. someday, it will all be far away, either in time or miles.

LINK 'The rough news for Apple lately is not just about its much-derided new maps program. Apple’s plans for an Internet radio service have hit a snag over the licensing of music controlled by Sony/ATV, which recently became the world’s biggest music publisher. The two companies are at odds over what rate Apple should pay to stream Sony/ATV songs on its service, a money standoff typical of such negotiations. But what is new is that Apple needs to negotiate at all. Typically, streaming services have obtained publishing rights from the major performing rights organizations, Ascap and BMI, which for decades have acted as clearinghouses on behalf of publishers and songwriters. In recent years, some music companies have moved away from that model, figuring that the returns would be better if they handled licensing directly and opted out of the blanket rates set by those organizations.'

I love what you have to say about your Rangers but I disagree here. The more you carve up divisions the more likely you have a losing record "win" a division while more deserving 2nd place teams lose out. Look at the NFL when a 7-9 Seattle team made the playoffs. And yes, I know they won their first game but still. Whatever the debate is for AL MVP about Mike Trout vs. Cabrera, the thing that kills me is those twits who say "Well Detroit won their division." Yeah, but who had the better record? Angels. And who had the best record in baseball once the kid was called up? At least with 3 games to go in the season it was the freaking Angels. So shame on them for not calling him up earlier because of arbitration issues down the line. Anyway, I'd rather go back to 2 division than go to 4! how about playoffs between first half and second half winners????

the case of the missing panties

fine choice----- as i recall, police, long ago raided a nude drunken party which the beloved "d.a." richard talman was attending. "we're ruined," someone shouted. i don't recall if ms. street was in attendance. -
It made the division races meaningful. I think you get that with the previous system of allowing only one WC team. With one wild card there's no premium to winning the division, as the wild card only gets less home games. With two wild cards, you run the risk, if you're a wild card, of one game and you're out. With one wild card there's a five game series for the wild card. That scenario is what drove the Yanks and O's to battle it out to the end, as neither team wanted to face a one and done situation. I'm a Yank fan through and through, but much respect and admiration for the A's & O's and their battles to make the playoffs. Both teams have just about no household names, but they both play hard and give it everything they've got. I think for manager of the year in the AL we need two winners, Showalter & Melvin, both deserve it richly. A side note- the A's traded Gio Gonzalez in the offseason, he might win the Cy Young, and the A's STILL make the playoffs- amazing!!! with the next to lowest payroll in mlb.

link Hocking County Prosecutor Laina Fetherholf will not discuss the exact whereabouts of her panties. But they most certainly were not on the judge’s bench. Yes, she concedes there was a “wardrobe malfunction” in which she retreated from the courtroom and resolved the unspecified problem. But no, she did not deposit her intimate apparel before Common Pleas Court Judge John T. Wallace and proclaim, “Problem solved.”

only in the u.s.------------whom would you recommend as worthy? link .....But considering the MacArthur program, established since in 1981 has included jazz-related musicians frequently since 1988 (starting with Ran Blake and Max Roach, continuing with George Russell, Ali Akbar Khan, Gunther Schuller, Cecil Taylor, Steve Lacy, Anthony Braxton, Ornette Coleman, Ken Vandermark, George E. Lewis, Edgar Meyer — with whom Chris Thile has collaborated — Reginald Robinson, Regina Carter, John Zorn, Corey Harris, Miguel Zenon, Jason Moran and Dafnis Prieto), and that the fellowships are not for past works but rather investments in the artists and hence their art forms’ futures, the absence this year is disappointing........

to each his own--would you favor us with your fab 5? In no particular order: Billie Holiday, Dinah Washington, Carmen McRae, Anita O'Day ... and a rotating fifth chair currently held by Jeanne Lee (other occupants have included Lee Wiley & Mildred Bailey, but never Sarah Vaughan). great choices--i love your rotating chair
