  1. this morning, i hurriedly hand washed and threw some shorts in the dryer. an hour later, while preparing to go to the gym, my trusty little rca pearl mp3 player went missing. it's inexpensive, durable, economical, and a perfect companion. at 5 or 6 years old, i can't find another so easy to use. the fm tuner is tolerable, it records off the radio, or a conversation or two easily, all for 15 bucks, if you can get one. one aaa battery lasts 50 hours, and a rechargeable or two, 'forever.' what a downer to start a day. on opening the dryer 40 minutes later, there was an unattached green rechargable NIMH battery and a player with unattached back cover. they weren't melted!!!!! i popped the player, minus battery, into a usb port. it lit up!!!!! the files showed in the drive, and it played!!!! what have you accidentally thrown in the dryer? were you so lucky????
  2. i can't find my copy. i would NEVER part with that voluntarily.
  3. wow. no arguments here, whatsoever, with those statements.
  4. tenderness, delicacy, and silence technology is evolving so rapidly that our instincts, bodies, ethics, brains, and emotions cannot keep up. 'I am lost to the world with which I used to waste so much time, It has heard nothing from me for so long that it may very well believe that I am dead! It is of no consequence to me Whether it thinks me dead; I cannot deny it, for I really am dead to the world. I am dead to the world's tumult, And I rest in a quiet realm! I live alone in my heaven, In my love and in my song!"
  5. I think Santana was just showing everyone he had the ball Great story, even if you didn't get to see THE game...I did imagine you somewheres gritting your teeth down to numbs saying, 3??? in the same season??? before September even??? Forgot it was your team(did you root for the Washington Generals as a child? ) aloc! Are we now saying if you are rich/saved up for box seats, that you didn't build that wealth, and deserve nothing short of birdpoop in your eyes? nah, cuz i'm jealous. actually those front seats down most foul lines scare me to death. somebody is going to be killed with a splintered bat or line drive, not to speak of the inconvenience of bird poop. they need wire mesh around the fields.
  6. whom are you quoting? 2 younger fellows in another forum.
  7. this applies to most sportscasts. i almost always watch them with no sound or captions. now, if vin scully or a precious few others are on, that's a different matter. espn sports news, pregames, and commentary i refuse to watch.
  8. i didn't mention that the video is the real thing.
  9. this list has been circulating for years. olympic bloopers   "9. Tennis commentator: "One of the reasons Andy is playing so well is that, before the final round, his wife takes out his balls and kisses them. .......Oh my God, what have I just said?""
  10. "The problem with Jazz is....that its Jazz. If you can fool people into thinking its not jazz then it can only improve sales." jazz certainly has a stigma with the vast majority. why???
  11. precious!!!!!!!! hopefully the gulls were bombing the box seats, wow!!!!!!! thanks for the info. the obvious concern of hunter for the ump says a great deal about him. are there any managers around who would have argued that out call?
  12. art played, with proper credit, several chuck nessa recordings, mentioning specific recording sessions.
  13. speaking of the indians, a sliding torii hunter of the angels cleats the umpire, knocking him face down, while a cleveland catcher of dubious intellect offers him the baseball. video
  14. "you can't lose if you don't play." just hanging on to your skivvies in this world is plenty tough, without giving them away for a pie in the sky scheme.
  15. the always interesting and informative art lange on his thursday morning wnur jazz show (until 10am edt) is featuring music by sun ra and the late von freeman. art frequently plays rare recordings; the next hour(9-10am edt) will be devoted to freeman. 16. did wor carry bob and ray???? they were an nbc(wnbc) entity, as i recall. B & R did the afternoon drive time show at WOR from 1973 to 1976. I didn't know this from listening at the time - I've never lived in NYC. But I've got lots of recordings (legitimately licensed and otherwise) from their WOR days. I love the daily episodes of "Mary Backstayge, Noble Wife." At the end of each episode, Bob would say, "Tune in tomorrow, when you'll hear [one of Ray's characters] say: ____" Ray would come up with something off the wall, and the next day's episode would be based on that. that opens an unknown, to me, chapter. with their huge library of skits from nbc, i would expect at least some of the wor material to be rewrites. very very few folks are THAT creative.
  17. thx. i haven't seen many electro-acoustic basses.
  18. i notice gene torres playing one now and it sounds and looks really good; he plays the instrument seated.
  19. did wor carry bob and ray???? they were an nbc(wnbc) entity, as i recall.
  20. there were at least 3 wor john gamblings, dating from 1926. wor, for decades, had the oldest demographics in the business.
  21. espn again plagiarized yahoo report "Well, three weeks later, it happened again. Last night's 6 p.m. SportsCenter featured language taken from Yahoo's exclusive report about Red Sox players turning on Bobby Valentine. It was all Yahoo's work. The only thing SportsCenter added was the word "reportedly" (and a little something from ESPN's Buster Olney about 17 Red Sox players being involved)."
