kilmer and joe kapp threw the ugliest passes i've seen in the nfl, other than tebow, and they were both winners.   jim marshall was one of the most remarkable athletes i've seen. he played 20 years in the nfl at right defensive end without serious injury. strangely, he was badly injured after football in a hang gliding accident, i think.

NFL ASKS COURTS TO SNUFF CONCUSSION LAWSUITS- NOTHING SAYS CARING LIKE THE NFL. YAHOO ARTICLE "PHILADELPHIA (AP) — The NFL moved Thursday to try to shut down lawsuits filed by thousands of former players who say they suffered or fear suffering permanent brain injuries from football-related concussions, calling the issue a "labor dispute" that should be resolved not by courts but by terms of the collective bargaining agreement. The players accuse the NFL of negligence and say league officials concealed known medical links between concussions and brain injuries, leading many of them to suffer from dementia or Alzheimer's disease, or be at an increased risk of reckless or suicidal behavior. In a motion to dismiss the suits filed late Thursday, the NFL argues that the collective bargaining agreement covers safety and health rules — while delegating to each team decisions about a player's condition and when they should return to play. And the league said the suits lack any specific proof of concealment. "To the extent that plaintiffs have a claim addressing injuries incurred during their NFL careers, that claim may only proceed pursuant to the grievance procedures set forth in the CBAs," the motion said."

brilliant. agreed.

So the NFL makes a big deal about player safety and then has the games officiated by a bunch of scabs, thus further endangering the players. it seriously makes me want to skip watching these games--they won't be competently officiated.

it sadly cheapens a really nice live event, and will possibly result in player injuries and distorted betting lines. pallid reassurance from the nfl

roger goodel suspends lance armstrong roger goodel suspends lance armstrong "By PFM Staff “This here’s my suspendin’ pen. I call her ‘Old Betsy.’ Now stand back and watch me rock!” One day after superstar cyclist Lance Armstrong was banned from professional cycling by the USADA and saw his seven Tour de France titles rescinded, NFL commissioner Roger Goodell announced that he too was suspending Armstrong permanently from all NFL games and other league functions. “Lance Armstrong’s shameful actions are a disappointment to the entire sporting world, and I’m sorry to say that he has no place here in the NFL,” Goodell said at a hastily called press conference. “We regret to inform Mr. Armstrong that he will not only be barred from playing in any NFL games from this point forward, he may not practice or otherwise associate with any league team without my office’s express written consent.”
