  1. I agree. When I heard Chet Baker sing this, this tune really fell out of favor with me. then there are myriad baker emulations. kind of like genuine naugahyde, if you are old enough.

  8. I don't mind a video being there, but if it starts up automatically, I'm gone. I agree, JMoose, with a caveat. Don't send me to a site promising, say, news and then provide ONLY a video, without the option to read. well phrased. ah, there's the rub.
  9. thx. for the reminder. i've been away from bruckner far too long. i am currently enjoying mahler 7 by gennady rozdestvensky with the state symphony of russia and capella choir. i couldn't wish for a finer interpretation or performance.

  12. MassLive.com reports that Boston Red Sox analyst Jerry Remy will be taking a leave of absence from NESN after his son Jared was arrested on murder charges in the stabbing death of Jared's girlfriend. Remy will be replaced by Dennis Eckersley.
  13. charlie manuel's last walk out of citizens park after being fired. http://www.philly.com/philly/sports/phillies/20130817_Manuel_to_announce_retirement_.html "Phillies general manager Ruben Amaro Jr. informed Manuel, during a series of recent coffee chats in Washington and Atlanta, that the team would not renew his contract following 2013. "Where are we going?" Manuel asked his boss. The Phillies knew for months. Amaro "toiled" with the decision but decided it was best not to "drag it out." He read from prepared notes Friday. He cried. Then, he patted Manuel on the back. "This isn't a blame game," Amaro said. "I'm not here to blame Charlie Manuel for our issues. I think we all have some responsibility in that regard. My job is to think about what we can do to get better in the future, and I believe this is one of the steps to try to move this thing forward." The team's executives carefully chose their words. But Manuel, 69, was fired. The prideful baseball lifer was both pragmatic and steadfast. "I didn't resign and I did not quit," Manuel said. "Let me tell you something: I've never quit nothing." 15. from the telly, it looks like live attendance has fallen worse than 32%. cnbc now has the rights to much of nascar for 2014. i'm guessing espn made a halfhearted effort to keep......
  16. the above is most enjoyable aggregation. leader mcpherson sits at the drums. numbers are not announced. they are chosen very complementary to each other. what a classy, but not hauty presentation. tenor artist abraham burton has a toneand style very reminiscent of an early charles lloyd, with just a bit more bite at times. this is one of the most enjoyable groups i've enjoyed all year.
