  1. Does this mean you're now one of the stunned former ardent supporters? Sports figures should never be ardently supported in the first place. That wasn't the question... Ah, but it really is! 5:45 PM: The Washington Post's Sally Jenkins, who had interviewed Joe Paterno about the Jerry Sandusky child sex abuse scandal, writes Thursday that the former Penn State coach was a "liar", a "cover-up artist" and a "hubristic, indictable hypocrite".
  2. this was a bit of an homage to a still active local philanthropist and a few of the local enterprises with which he has been associated. mr. ben bissman has a legacy for admiration. this was a bit of an homage to a still active local philanthropist and a few of the local enterprises with which he has been associated. mr. ben bissman has a legacy for admiration.
  3. this megadose of PSU truth on KDKA-FM last night : "Penn State has turned into Jonestown without the 'n'"

  5. thanks. the term frank wright recording excites the heck out of me. i'm so glad that some others feel the same way.
  6. I have tinnitus too, mostly due to a lifetime of sitting in front of trumpet sections and next to drummers in big bands. I don't notice it until I'm in a quiet room, then it's very noticeable. If I ever got put in solitary confinement I'd probably go crazy. I sleep with a fan on (or some other ambient noise) so it doesn't bother me at night. Occupational hazard I guess. BTW, I've tried using earplugs when I play but I never could get used to playing with them. can you hear quiet passages or sounds clearly? Yes, my hearing is still very good. The ringing is noticeable only when it's completely silent. you are a very lucky man, indeed.

  9. Since it miraculously disappeared and then returned, I would have this looked at. You don't want to mess around. I suffer from tinnitis and although I've gotten used to it (tuned out the background noise), it will return on occasion. Had a bad bout for a few hours on Monday. thx for the advice. i will do that.
  10. a whole new world indeed. i did use one of those $5 ear wax kits from rite aid. maybe this should become a monthly ritual.
  11. several weeks ago, i noticed that hearing in my right ear was greatly diminished. oh the mental anguish. what if the other ear goes? should i get a hearing aid? is this affecting my driving or walking and biking on busy streets??? i had to lie on only one side to hear the radio when i went to bed. i checked for ear wax and found little. this went out for at least a month. then my hearing mysteriously and miraculously returned. such unspeakable joy!!!!!! this morning i am listening to my treasured marian anderson spirituals and duke plays ellington vinyls with an appreciation not previously had. my hearing is going away. no it ismn't!!!!

  19. to me, everything about her wreaks of over production. give her a nice piano, trio, or quartet and let her do her thing. the beloved late shirley horn, (and many other vocalists) was falling into those contrivance and overproduction traps late in her career. why would shirley horn need a piano player and 85 violins?
