  2. This goes to what I was saying about the Knicks. The question I have is: do the Knicks now have the guts to suspend Stoudemire w/o pay indefinitely? I already know the answer, and this is the problem with sports today. The inmates are running the asylum. As a matter of fact, I believe that the only remaining major sport where this is even close to being untrue is hockey. There are lots of reasons for this, but I won't go into them here. the knicks were a much better team without stoude.....
  3. presumably, he will receive royalties on the marketted items. i'll take a cap and maybe a jersey.
  4. the nba teams, due to the compressed schedule, are mash units. for the first time in my life, and with action filled hockey playoffs now broadly available on nbc sports, i will watch any available nhl game over any available nba offering. i gave the unfortunate bulls a go, via time shifting, last night; they are toast.
  5. some news stories make you exclaim "yes, yes, yes!!!!!" link

  9. being a woman at 48 is never easy. the apartment has no pillow, and maybe no sheets. there is no money for laundry, or even soap to wash things out in the tub. the metro rent is exorbitant. "daddy is dying of cancer and he's not right. he used to like me. when i was little, i was the apple of his eye. the dream of a factory job, even when you get it, can be empty. 7 weeks of walking to work on tired legs with worn dollar store shoes, standing on cement, having no lunch or feminine needs, being stared at like a freak by more fortunate coworkers...... those tiny tiny tiny paychecks. almost every penny has gone for fines, now $240 from being paid off. catching bronchitis and missing 10 days of work was hell. the job, surprisingly, was still there. do you get a ride home from work? "no, i just like to walk and think about things." "i'm going to lose my place. my children need help. i can't pay the rent. what am i going to do? i'm sick, but there is no money for a doctor and no insurance. i don't want to go to a shelter." surviving any way she can is a living hell. sometimes we talk. "i don't believe in a hereafter. when we die, that's just it." i told her about my 20 year old homeless, pregnant suicidal niece in columbus who is on methodone. her baby will be a drug addict. my sister is going nuts taking care of her. "when i had my babies, i didn't even smoke or drink. i wanted them to be right" i stopped reading and believing in fairy tales and hope some time ago. praying is not for me. is doing the right thing really the right thing? there is little more than enough to squeak by, but by being frugal and lucky, i've survived and kept a home. i won't offer false hopes to folks with glossy promises and cant try to take care of the world. today, i may pick up a 40 ounce of milwaukee's best ice, a pack of menthol kings, and a can of potted meat.... she'll drop by, for sure. if she doesn't, i will worry...............
  10. this is the first time they haven't honored the tradition. i've got the good stuff here on a hard drive.

  12. Submitted by Thuto Durkac Somo on Sat, 28 Apr 2012, 2:10am The WKCR American Department presents the Annual Country Music Festival, Monday April 30th at 8:00 AM to Wednesday, May 2nd at 12:00 PM. This year, we will explore the Outlaw and Progressive country movements of the 1970s. The festival will include new and archival interviews from Ray Wylie Hubbard, Billy Joe Shaver, Willie Nelson, and Waylon Jennings. Special segments will also detail the fertile creative scene in Lubbock, Texas, the endurance of the outlaw theme in country music, and progressive country’s Californian comrades. wkcr country music festival :w :w :w

  14. fine tasre--i own those all!!!!
  15. 'civilized' is a broad term
  16. Allen, as great as Skowron was, I don't think that that is correct. As I recall, Tresh was a rookie in '61, and from '61 on Pepitone got a lot of playing time at first. pepi was one of the first ballplayers to wear a hairpiece.
  17. as i recall, when dick howser was dying of brain cancer, skowron accepted much of the responsibility of howser's medical expenses and emotional care.
  18. #14 RIP when moose was playing, there was no free agency for baseball players. as i recall, his salary in 1954 was about $10,000. moose was a helluva 1st baseman, a kind and funny man, fascinating, and interesting.
  19. i would love to hear fasty render a tasty trio interpretation of the aforementioned.
  20. we don't have gypsums in our town, anymore. their shops have all been replaced by tattoo parlors.
  21. who pays more for your gold? i've some coins and rings that have been lying around for 40 years. i've no interest in selling at this time, but have no idea where would be the best value. Want to gamble on the value of your gold jewelry, coins or silver? Then skip the research and take it to a local pawn shop or jewelry store for a quick payoff. In mid-February, TBL shuttled around Greater Hartford with two gold coins and a Tiffany silver bowl — a stash valued between $1,100 and $1,200 — and received offers as low as $704 and as high as $1,006. The best of the dozen offers was not from a jewelry store or coin shop or an in-between gold-and-diamond exchange. It was from the Pawn Queen, Sandy Meier, whose shop on the Berlin Turnpike in Wethersfield welcomes visitors with cutie-pie mannequins wearing tiaras and Pawn Queen T-shirts. Four of the six lowest offers were from jewelry stores, with the top jewelry-store offer, at No. 7 overall, Gem Jewelry in West Hartford ($770) and lowest-overall Becker's Diamonds & Fine Jewelry ($703.85), also in West Hartford.
  22. i would question any team(the browns) drafting any running. the trend is to back by committee and individual ones take such a beating.
