  4. before you click, you may want to know this is a 1.5 MB acrobat 4 and up document. Are you allowed to copy the (rather short) text here Johnny?
  5. it is very difficult to built an effective spam filter if you receive messages in multiple languages. The technicians at our university have still not managed to do it right. They tag every probably spam message with a string that can be searched and automatically moved to a local folder. Everyday I find several "good" messages filtered out as spam and several spam messages not filtered out. My private mail provider has a filter that discerns three types of messages: good, bad, and dunno. You check the messages the system can't filter correctly as good or bad and thus create and ever growing true-filter that does not just function through search strings, but uses the actual messages (sender, header, content) as criterion.
  6. I knew it had something to do with dialectics
  7. Woo Hoo!
  8. yeah, Dan crosses the Alps on his elephants and messes thing up! I sure hope that the BFT master will continue to have the power over when discussions start. I would hate to see that the compiler goes through all the trouble and that then after the disks are out, it's

  13. Eric, there's a happy birthday lockjaw thread around here somewhere, which features some recommendations. I'll look for it.

  16. yeah well, I just went into the store, told the guy to get the box of the highest shelve and sell it to me. Cost me a foot and and an arm, but I have never regretted it. Don't wait too long to get this set. There will always be better prices after the fact. I got the second set I bought for my friend for 50 EUR, probably less than a third for what I paid. You need the fun this music brings into your life. Face it. and paul: quit bothering me and start listening to this set willya!
  17. have a good time chuck
  18. Jim, do you expect couw to be able to hold off until the 15th? now there's something no one would ever think of asking you...
  19. welcome once more and I am looking forward to read more of your recollections and remarks.
  20. Paul's right, don't listen to me. His advice is cool, but of course I checked all those outlets before posting. No sets on ebay currently ("Just check out ebay. Someone is always selling them." ), and none on amazon.com either. Still, if you can sit & wait, the set can indeed be had for less than 150$.
  21. This is a great set. The first box set I bought and it has seen some heavy rotation. As far as I know Edith has only been released paired with RR&Panic. Probably there's an expensive Japanese issue for money that buys you several of the twofers though. The VME of Domino features some stuff not in the box, otherwise, the box is the way to go. Kirk is a master and each alternate take is actually more than just another recording to correct mistakes, it's usually a completely new & original rendering. Just compare the solo on the two versions of Blues for Alice that start of the box and which are both included on the We Free Kings CD. The guy way AMAZING. The box was offered by zweitausendeins at an abysmal low price in the past, which means you may still find it at a good price. This seller from amazon marketplace has a set for 116EUR, add 14EUR p&p to that to make a total of some 155 US$ delivered to your doorstep. Quite a good price for an 11 disk set, I'd say. I paid more for mine, much less for a zweitausendeins copy for a friend though.
  22. ah well, must be my nice-guy gene playing up. I cannot judge the situation. Maybe y'all are right and she needs a spanking. I'm still for the nice-guy approach though, but as I said, that's just my genes.
  23. The first Shaw I picked up was a japanese issue of this 2CD set. Wonderful stuff in many respects. I still haven't got around to invest more time and money in the man and his music. I have been playing these disks, though!
