because people want their 80 year old Ellington to sound like it was recorded yesterday? heheh. Look, it seems they used no-noise and the sound is indeed kind of dead. On the plus side there aren't myriads of pops and crackles to distract you either. I play this stuff in the background while going about my things and for that purpose it really sounds good enough. And with good I mean that the quality does not detract from the content. If you are going to sit down and listen to whether you can hear the Duke's galoshes squeek across the floor, you will be dissappointed and will likely end up with a headache. Of course it can be done to make music like this sound wonderful, but if you are looking for an easy and cheap way to get your Ellington bases covered, this one beats many other options. Like PeteB wrote: excellent value for money, moreso if you can pick it up for less than list price which does not seem to be too much of a challenge. I haven't listened through all of the set, but on the parts I did play it was fairly easy to give the ole treble knob a swing and make it all a bit less muddy. Must be my system and my ears.

Anybody ever use non-OEM ink from eBay?
couw replied to Jim Alfredson's topic in Miscellaneous - Non-Political
did anyone actually ever have or hear about bad experiences? If this stuff were as bad ad the printer manufacturers keep telling the consumer, the internets should be flooded by reports on that. The only issue would be warranty and the thing will not break down before one day after that has expired anyhow. -
it's on Thelonious Monk Trio (Prestige/OJC)

another useful post. One that offers support and light.

Why don't you just make it flash rapidly back and forth between them like your avatar, and see how long you can handle THAT. yeah, baby, groovy!

Sound is good, nothing spectacular and the real old stuff from the twenties sounds a bit tinny at times. Packaging is minimal, 20 slim 2CD cases with bare discographical info on dates, tunes and personnel. The box itself is a flimsy cardboard ditty. This set only has the master takes, so it's not as complete as other products out there. I picked this up when I ran into a "second hand" copy in perfect condition for only 20 euros, a price to low pass on! Have yet to listen through it all.

hey, I don't have any problems with this post. Apparantly Hans does and I understand where he is coming from so I pointed out that we've had some problems before with religious content and arrived at some consensus then. All I am saying is that this tends to be a volatile subject and a subject people like to mock or defend arduously.

organissimo wants to play in YOUR TOWN
couw replied to Jim Alfredson's topic in organissimo - The Band Discussion
Maybe, but that would make this place awfully dull. hey, YOU were the one complaining about complaints. Get your priorities in order I'd say. If it's real big shots complaining while at the same time offering you a rekkid deal, I'd say silence the bunch and hit for the money and make your family happy. heheheh. they could just PM you but you'd get more response by mailing them yourself, the band that is and whoever represents them. Much of the response would be "naah", but some would be along the lines of "yes, of course glad you asked." you should drink more beer. it's pretty normal for me -
your non-fuss is another man's fuss. Simply because it's about God. Easy-po-peasy.

that about covers it, yeah...

privately I have been among those warning you for being all too lenient on the content of the postings. Maybe *all* possibly offensive stuff should be in the politics forum with a warning that does not need a click of the mouse to be read. I don't know either, but these are the same people who have asked you stuff, make links work, add a blue colour scheme and those smileys we're so fond of. Have a go at the Chat in the upper right corner to get an idea of the appreciation of this site out there. People will be wanting to help, just not out in the open. Really, people like this site but are not willing to expose their opinion to the scrutiny of the powers that be here. Sounds silly, is not. Give them a chance by simply asking. -

Interesting discussion just now in the Live Chat where "we" sort of reached the conclusion that Organissimo may very well be a bit more aggressive about its approach and actively contact board members located in places where stuff may be happening music wise. I think this board is giving the fans a lot and in return those fans can and should be willing to contact local venues or whatever outlets there are and help the band some. Asking for people to help in the open is one thing and good. But I really think that you guys have a right to personally approach the members of this board and ask them for help in making your name a bigger one. Asking for people to raise their hands will get you far less support than allowing people to help you without being in the open about it. Right Randy? -
I think religion sucks, but that "not allowed" stuff sucks, too. this board has seen it's share of missionary postings all over the place. At some point there was a consensus struck that religious posts should be made in the politics forum. You have already mocked and likely offended some with that picture of the cigarettes. Religion is a highly flammable subject and discussion thereof should better be "contained" for the sake of overall friendliness. My grandmother only had one rule at family dinners: no talk about politics, religion or the royal family. We still had plenty to discuss.

Stan getz - Captain Marvel (Verve) some French pressing

I do them with my wife's cotton pads soaked in soapy dishwasher water, rub with the grooves. Then repeat with clean water, rinse, and dry with a soft, often washed cloth.
