  1. I'm not overly impressed with Dallas' draft. I think they got a solid OLB in Anthony Spencer in the first round, but after that there was too much wheeling and dealing by Jerry Jones, and all of the players that came after that are pretty unimpressive or average at best. Picked a coupld of OL guys, and reached for a QB who'll be converted to WR (Isaiah Stanback from Washington). Hopefully they'll prove me wrong, and they end of with some players that develop into something.
  2. Yeah, he's always been a bull in a china shop in that regard, to me. But way back when (talking Orlando and earlier part of his Laker days), it seemed like he used to get the ball on every offensive possession. Nowadays, it seems like he's there for offensive rebounds and cheap put-backs.
  3. He's been on a downward spiral for years. When was the last time he dominated a game? I can't remember - 2001, 2002 maybe?
  4. Happy Birthday Joe!
  5. Are you saying that steroids don't increase muscle-mass, and only improve vision? Additional muscle equates to additional power. Additional power seemingly could cause a ball that would "normally" just get to the warning track to go an addition 10-15 feet, and become a home run. Why doesn't that make sense? I don't buy your argument that steroids only improve vision, not power. What if 100 of Bonds' 742 homeruns just barely cleared the fence, and you have come to the conclusion that almost everyone outside of the SF Bay Area has come to, that Bonds has used steroids. In that case, if he had NOT been using steroids, maybe these 100 home runs that just cleared the fence are warning track hits in reality. Then Bonds is NOT close to surpassing Hank Aaron, and probably more where he belongs.
  6. Nuggets let too much time go off the clock on that possession toward the end. Shoulda fouled right away.
  7. If it's true Bonds' shoe size has gone from 10 1/2 to 13 as an adult, how do you explain that? I don't know anyone who's feet suddenly go up 5 sizes.
  8. I think Cleveland's done well so far. Trading with Dallas allowed them to pick up Brady Quinn, who should have a chip on his shoulder for falling so low. Dallas came out ok with that trade as well. They ended up getting Cleveland's 1st round pick next year, moving down to the second round, then moving back up and getting the guy they apparently wanted all along anyway, DE Anthony Spencer. He's projected at OLB, opposite Demarcus Ware, so the Cowboys should have a pretty good pass rush this season.
  9. You broke up the band, GA!!!
  10. Did he pop after three minutes of high altitude/pressure?
  11. Rumor that Oakland's trading the first pick to Cleveland. Cleveland would send Braylon Edwards to the Raiders in order to move from #3 to #1. Also hearing rumors that Oakland is close to a deal with Brady Quinn, so I'm not sure if both of those things could happen or not at the same time. Maybe they deal the pick, the hope to sign Quinn @ #3, if he's still there.
  12. Glad yours finally arrived, Matthew! I like Fear of a Blank Planet alot! It's very cohesive. It hasn't grabbed me right off the bat like Stupid Dream or Lightbulb Sun did (those are still the PT-pinnacle for me), but it's very much in line (and a progression from) IA and Deadwing. I hear more in it with every spin, and like the contrast between the heavier moments and the mellower stuff. I think Richard Barbieri did a great job on this album too. He's not an instrumental wizard ala Wakeman or someone who noodles, but adds alot of color and feel to the music, and is underrated in the whole PT sound, I think. I may end up liking Fear better than IA and Deadwing over time, though both of those have moments of real beauty on them. Let us know what you think, after a few spins. Also the Blackfield II.
  13. Paul Schaefer did that to me a couple of times at a club a few years ago. That short little... Your beard may have been blocking his view.
  14. Bobby Hutcherson and I discussed fishing for speckled trout and redfish about a month ago. I met Mark Hamill in 1977 while he was on a promotional tour of Japan for Star Wars, with Gary Kurtz, the producer of the movie. Hamill also kissed my sister.
  15. Take some of Sangrey's steroids, and you can make up the difference in about 48 hours.
  16. Be careful - he's on track to do it again sometime this decade.
  17. I ran into Gregg Allman in a hotel elevator in Springfield, Virginia once. Flew on a plane from Montego Bay to Miami with Russell Maryland, the #1 overall NFL draft pick in 1991. He rode coach, and gave me his autograph on the back of a Sandals brochure. Also, I once drove classical guitarist Christopher Parkening (and his guitar) from the airport to his hotel, in a red Trans Am. Then gave him a brief tour of scenic College Station, Texas. He didn't seem overly impressed.

  19. Ah yes, Esquivel aka SQ Evil. That's Dr. Evil, if you will! (plus his cohort Mini-Chew)
  20. There's been a little bit of discussion about her in the Bjork Corner.
  21. There's been quite a bit of speculation about Clemens too. Just google "clemens steroids".
  22. I think Paul Secor has one for sale in the Offering and Looking For Section.
  23. Then again, with his day job, he may be too busy to visit here that often.
  24. I'm sure one of us could have predicted his visit to this board.
