  1. I actually don't care for this album. It lacks all the main features that makes Hawes a jazz pianist I like very much - hard swinging with a strong blues feeling. Just checked and I have 12 Hampton Hawes albums (Contemporary label) on my shelf. I prefer each one of them to "High In The Sky" .

  5. I don't believe I have heard any better Eddie Lockjaw Davis than on this album!!!!! It is good to hear Snooky Young in one of his few small group settings.. This Basie small group session provides an excellent example of what it means to "SWING".
