  8. Etta Jones sings very well here. But the Oliver Nelson arrangements are sappy, dull and without an once of jazz feeling or content. This is the first time I have heard this, and it will be the last.

  10. Almost finished reading "My Dear Departed Past" by Dave Frishberg. I especially enjoyed the stories about Dave playing with Bud Freeman, Ben Webster, and Al Cohn & Zoot Sims. The book focuses on Frishberg as a pianist, and also as a composer/songwriter. It is a book that will particularly appeal to those who like Dave's songs. He describes the circumstances that resulted in many of his songs.
