  1. Bootsie Barnes plays very well on this CD, and also on Philly Gumbo Vol.2.
  2. Tchaikovsky - Symphony No.6 "Pathtique"
  3. The tune from this album - "Base On Balls" Begins with slow walking bass from Doug Watkins that leads into a very bluesy solo by Horace Silver and then onto a marvelous Hank Mobley solo. I have loved this track ever since I first bought the LP back in the 50's.
  4. Schubert D.810 "Death and the Maiden"
  5. This (1957-58) is my favorite period for Harold Land's tenor saxophone. It is before the Coltrane influence changed his playing. He sounds wonderful on the 2 sessions on which he appears. Elmo Hope is also in great form throughout.
  6. Bach - Concerto for two Violins - BWV 1043 Schubert - 6 Moments Musicaux D.780
  7. Happy Birthday - 88 years !!!
  8. Mendelssohn - String Quartet Op.44/1 Spohr - Violin Concerto No.4, Op.10
