  1. Bjorn Johansen (Norwegian Tenor player) with the Cedar Walton Trio - David Williams & Billy Higgins
  2. Mozart - String Quintet K.515 Rode - Violin Concerto No.7, Op.9
  3. It has been many many decades since I read the book, so my memory may be questionable. But what I seem to recall were 2 major criticisms of the book. 1. It glorified drug use and made it seem that jazz musicians were mostly drug addicts. And the criticism about drug use was back in a time period when the general view about marijuana was dramatically different than today. So it , for it's time, gave jazz a negative image. 2. it gloried Mezzrow's capabilities as a jazz musician. The book portrayed him as a "jazz master" at the level of the many "true" great whom which he played.
  4. While not from The 70's, this is perhaps my favorite Bobby Hutcherson album.
  5. Haydn - Op.42 & Op.103 Volkmann - Op.5
  6. These two have some good playing by Jimmy Heath
  7. We should not ignore the many many recordings where Jimmy Heath was a sideman. Only focusing on his dates as a leader does not by any means tell us the whole story.
  8. Mozart - Piano Concerto No.15, K.450 Raff - Symphony No.3
  9. Kirk Lighsey Quartet - Everything Has Changed
  10. I share what Clunky said. Not an interesting jazz album.
  11. There are quite a number of Monk tribute albums. This would be (for me) a strong favorite.
  12. Schubert - String Quintet in C major
  13. Onslow - String Quartet Op.47 Spohr - Symphony No.6, Op.116 and Overture Op.12
