Yes, what did Paul Desmond say about Trane? And did he have anything to say about Miles or other members of Miles groups?

I visited San Antonio once a number of years ago. Went to Jim Cullum's club one evening. Enjoyed the music. R.I.P.

What's the earliest recorded stereo release in your collection
Peter Friedman replied to medjuck's topic in Audio Talk
If you have an extensive collection. I am not sure how to determine the earliest stereo recording I have without spending many hours going through an awful lot of recordings. Yes, I know to ignore the more recent ones, but that still leaves a huge number. -

I agree with Soulpope that the set by the Suske Quartet is outstanding. Though I do not have the complete set by the Smetana Quartet, the Op.18 quartets by them are wonderful. Quartetto Italiano does a fine job on all the quartets. I also like the middle and late quartets by the Tokyo String Quartet which is available with excellent sound on SACD. I have a number of Beethoven String Quartets on SACD by Quartet di Cremona. The performance is first rate, and audio quality is as good as it gets.
