Bob Brookmeyer is primarily known as a valve trombone player and composer/arranger. I have long enjoyed his piano playing. This is his only recording as leader of a Piano Trio, and I consider it a very good one. He did a duo piano album with Bill Evans, and has played piano on a few tunes with Gerry Mulligan , Jimmy Raney and Teddy Charles. His piano playing reminds me a bit of the way Jimmy Rowles approaches the instrument.

Yes, and a very good one.

I have the complete sets by Kempff and Lucchesini. I also have the complete set by Buchbinder which I strongly recommend. The other recommendation I would make is the Sony Box - Rudolf Serkin plays Beethoven. It includes 18 piano sonatas as well as other things.
