I am also a big fan of Cannonball's recording once Yusef Lateef joined the band. He added a special kick that was like a large spoon of Detroit spice.

Sorry to hear this sad news. Rebecca Kilgore was a good jazz singer. I have a number of her CDs and also saw her perform live about 4 or 5 times.

T.D. In the last few years I have been doing a lot of streaming. Here are some Bach piano recording artists I have listened to over the past (roughly)3 years: Pires, Hewitt, Kissin, Mejoueva, Anderszwski,Friere, Cobasso, Tharaud, Okonsar, Nikolayeva, Goode, Haebler -

Finally some South Florida Concerts Worth Seeing
Peter Friedman replied to Dan Gould's topic in Live Shows & Festivals
Chuck Redd was here in Tucson for 3 nights at the Century Room, a very good jazz club. My wife and I went to see him last night playing with a local big band. Redd brought some of the charts originally recorded by the Terry Gibbs Dream Band. We heard some terrific things by Bill Holman, Al Cohn and Bob Brookmeyer. In addition Chuck also had a fine arrangement by Thad Jones. It was a highly enjoyable evening of wonderful music. Due I expect, to Chuck Redd's wide publicity from cancelling his show at the Kennedy Center, The club was sold out all 3 nights. -

T.D. I have not heard Maria Tipo play Bach, but my clear Preference is for piano , not harpsichord. This Kempff CD a fine example.
