  1. That's part of the fun of the Blindfold Test, that the listener does not recognize musicians or guesses the wrong musician. I should have picked out Julia Lee, though.
  2. It all depends on what your definition of hat, is.
  3. No wonder I could not guess any of them. The Rhoda Scott cut is a real shocker. I thought it was Pharoah Sanders, then knew it was not him, and wondered if it was Rahsaan Roland Kirk. I never would have guessed that one in a million years.
  4. That would be great, Allen. I would really like to know if any of the unreleased tapes held by the family will ever be released.
  5. Thanks for these answers! I have been playing this disc often for sheer enjoyment, and it is good to connect names and song titles to the material. It is a super fun disc!
  6. Barry Kernfeld was the author, and the one who reviewed the tapes. The article appears on Kernfeld's website. Kernfeld's authorship and role in reviewing the tapes are confirmed by a David Wild-authored article which I found online today. My searches revealed that this very article, verbatim, was reproduced in an Organissimo thread in 2005, entitled Amazing Coltrane Discovery. Peter Johnson and Jazzbo were among those who posted on that thread.
  7. This album was displayed above the cash register at Ann Arbor's Wazoo Records for many years. Wazoo Records has a special place in my heart as the store in which I found many inexpensive Sun Ra albums in the late 1970s and early 1980s.
