A Desert Island disc for me. Incredible album.

Blew my mind when I first heard this one and 'Bless The Weather' in college.

Loved them, especially the classic first album.

Though with song titles like "In Lust We Trust", he's clearly a deep cerebral philosophic thinker. Maybe the new Dylan or something.

This Rockpalast CD/DVD series is amazing. Great sound quality, inspired performances, and very inexpensive.

And they've always been fine for on Amazon.com, have used them as a secondary source for years. They are a major seller, over 700,000 feedbacks on Amazon.

They will subtract the VAT at checkout.

I also assume they'll keep going. Next up would be Live/Dead, my favorite in their original run.

Since becoming less- or non- competitive in their CD pricing, they've largely lost me as a music client to ebay/importcds. But I still buy tons of other stuff (including my last two lawn mowers - free Prime delivery!) from them.

Not the sonic revelation I was hoping for, and no liner notes, and less bonus material than the "Message in a Box" set from 25 years ago. That being said, the packaging is nice (full minl-lp's with gatefolds), no real problems with the sound, the missing live bonus material is not of much value (I never found their live material compelling compared to the studio recordings), and it cost me $22 shipped from Amazon UK for the six CD set. If you have "Message in a Box", you probably don't need too bother with this. If you don't, this is the way to go.

I'm in at some acceptable price point. Running about $45 pre-order on Amazon, which is too much for me since I already have the original Band of Gypsies and the 2CD "Live at the Fillmore East". Look forward to any feedback on sound quaility on this new release compared to the two I already own.

I like that Alice Darr album a lot, one of the unexpected highlights of the set for me. Otherwise totally unfamiliar with her.

It's certainly well worth $2-3/disc or whatever, as it's an interesting (though very inconsistent) body of work, but I don't think it's worth paying inflated Japanese prices for individual titles. Japanese remastering's not going to help all that much.

2 CD set of Coltrane "The Bethlehem Years" available from multiple sellers for under $10 on ebay. Well worth it.

Some of the Real Gone stuff sounds fine, they got better at it as the years went on (and they had better sources to pirate). Not Now is the worst of the worst in every regard. But yeah, there are plenty of cruddy sounding Euro PD labels, such as "Prestige Elite: and even some cruddy sounding Euro "legit" labels (looking at you, Hallmark)

That would be Alfred Lion's sale of the label to Liberty in 1967. They continued to put out a lot of great music, but also a much higher percentage of disposable music. Then, when Liberty sold out to UA, the new music continued to weaken (though again, with some notable exceptions, such as the late McCoy Tyner and Elvin Jones tites, and some of the Bobby Hutcherson titles). Though UA did unearth a lot of incredible unreleased or long out of print material in three glorious campaigns through about maybe 1980. We won't talk about the mid-80's relaunch to the present, which to me is a whole different label, for which I don't have great regard.
