Great idea, Volkher! Count me in. I´ll add my enthusiasm and my work; there are many other much more knowledgeable members. BTW: Milan (mmilovan) suggested something simmilar in another thread. We have to join our efforts!

Hey, that´s the exactly opposite of Tatum: he was told not having never played a song the same way twice!
-
deus: I´ve only listened to it in its entirety once, since I received it a couple of months ago... ...but I find it highly rewarding. Yes, very homogeneus. Maybe casual listeners must take it in small doses. But I really dig his elegant and full of swing playing (mmilovan called him "the Bill Evans of the Big Band Era").

Any Comments on H.R.S. Sessions?

Thanks for the reply, paul. And yes, I´ve already decided to pick this one up... when my budget allows it! -
Where to go next for Art Tatum goodness?
EKE BBB replied to Saxophone__Vagina's topic in Mosaic and other box sets...
How is the Storyville Live Tatum series? I´ve listened to volumes 1, 2 & 5 at length. 3 & 4 are on my huge and evergrowing pile of recently purchased and unheard discs. They are really good, IMHO! There are many different sources for that music (broadcastings, club dates, private tapes...), but sound´s pretty good in most of the recordings I´ve heard. Many solo performances and trio dates and a few larger ensembles. Of course, I´d recommend first all the dates when you can hear Tatum alone (the man at his best!), but there are some outstanding trio recordings, and some interesting curiosities. Highly recommendable (at least for a Tatum-addict). -
OK, we´ll play a little tricky once more... do you like folkie songwriters? Billy Bragg: "BREWING UP WITH..." (Go!, 1984) B)

Two things come to my mind: 1) Website 2) (web based) Discography/sessionography With the ammount of Basie material they own, some members could work on this. And I´m not looking at anybody...

This smells like an AMG search. Anyone ever actually hear this one? But at least it keeps the game alive. "You Must Believe In Spring" (Bill Evans) OK, I've lobbed one over the plate for someone. Touché! (though I´m sure someone at this board has it ) Now one I have in my collection, believe me: Karel Ruzicka Jr.: "SPRING ROLLS QUARTET" (Cube-Metier 1998) I picked many czech jazz CDs when I was in Prague a few years ago. This is an interesting saxophonist.
