  1. Organissimo isn't the best place to shop for advice on vinyl. This place is.
  2. It wouldn't surprise me if the balls were thrown in Northern Rhode Island and landed in Southern Rhode Island...
  3. Theme Song #3 Used to be my personal favorite when I was 14.
  4. I know what you mean. Some of them are old school Italians... Still, I'll take my chances, but leave the key in the ignition. Thanks for the heads-up, bro!
  5. I already picked a theme song for my triumphs over the old geezers - it's Hank's Ballin'!
  6. There are some cheap petanque/boule sets of 6 balls and a cochonette on eBay for $10 or so. We have a bocce/boule/petanque court in the senior center in our one-horse town. I was thinking it's time to kick some octogenarian ass! I played a few trimes with my friends in Paris, and it seems like a sport I could embrace. Very little physical effort, just what I like. Anybody into this stuff?
  7. Where was this recorded?
  8. There are tracks on the cd box that are not on the Mosaic lp box?
  9. Is there another cover for this cd [maybe a Japan issue]? Nice music, ugly wrapper...
  10. It sucks [a lot] that search does not permit searching for a phrase, doesn't it?
  11. That's gonna cost ya, Nessa! Proceed into the chat room and have your credit card handy, sailor.
  12. Bunny / Hemp Plus the yarn, for a mere $12.99!
  13. That is very reassuring. This cd is listed at $40 everywhere on the web, but on this site it was $23 or so, plus the $5 off coupon - it was a no-brainer. Air-mail shipping was about $5. Now let's see if they come through.
  14. Their website is http://www.cdjapan.co.jp/ Prices are vbery reasonable for the Japanese imports, shipping is OK too. New customers get $5 off their first order. I just placed an order for this cd this morning -
  15. Kenyatta Beasley. I've heard this guy a couple of times jamming around New York. Matter of fact I just ordered his cd, a Japan-only release, Brooklyn Mardi Gras. Will report on what it sounds like.
  16. My motive is purely mercantile - I have quite a few Document label cds of classic blues that I would like to sell. eBay is just too tedious sometimes... Thanks!
  17. I also got 7 Blue Note Hank Mobley LPs recorded in 1957. A prolific year for Hank. But I wonder who the Champ* was...
  18. I was cataloguing Grant Green's cds and Lps I have into the music database and noticed I had 6 separate titles plus the Green & Clark / The Complete Quartets 2cd set, all recorded in 1961. That's a lot of music for one year! I am sure Green is not even close to being at the top of the list, so who in your estimation has recorded the most leader Lps in one year? And a side-note - who was the most prolific Blue Note artist in terms of recording the most Lps in one year, at the peak of his popularity [or faith in such by Alfred Lion]?
  19. Heard a couple of samples here. Sounds like the early- 70s porno soundtrack. The record is going on the Loricraft tomorrow and then on the platter. Who is this guy? It's available on cd from the P-Vine. Bernard "Pretty" Purdie [+] Drums, Producer Doug Bascomb [+] Guitar Frank Owens [+] Organ, Piano Hugh McCracken [+] Guitar Julian Buck [+] Viola Kermit Moore [+] Cello Norman Pride [+] Percussion Rick Cutter [+] Vibraphone Selwart Clarke [+] Violin
  20. ...Hank Goodwin, Tommy Benford, or Pops Foster.
  21. That is a shame. I always thought he was a bigger actor than the parts he played. Guess we'll never know.
