  2. I have the slipcover in pristine condition. It can be yours for $30 [i'm in a good mood, so postage is included].
  3. ....meanwhile somewhere in Maine... -Lov, vere are you, Lov, you devil in toon?
  4. Today - Santana - Caravanserai Jacques Loussier - Play Bach, Vol.3 Napoleon and Orquestra Dominicana - Let's do the Merengue
  5. I am definitely not saying he stiffed me deliberately. Sometimes people forget, sometimes they leave this planet to join Sun Ra. I did a search on on his posts here, and it seems he's a geniune jazz lover with a very nice Lp collection. Dan, I am not going to send a certified letter or start a small claim suit over $20 that I paid him for this LP. Nevertheless, It'd be nice to receive my LP...
  6. VINYL CONDITION: EXCELLENT++, a soft tick here and there due to a few mild hairlines and a few very mild surface lines, nothing serious // COVER CONDITION: EXCELLENT, mild corner wear. Cover looks anything but excellent, imo. PLUS, excellent means there are no scratches and no noise. I'd be weary of the whole thing.
  7. 50 days?! Thank you for your reply...
  8. Check ebay completed auctions from time to time to get an idea. Here's a recent one - http://cgi.ebay.com/Duke-Ellington-Complet...1QQcmdZViewItem
  9. I bought through the this forum. He had also mentioned that Parkertown would vouch for him. FWIW... Am I the only one who bought from this man?! I find it hard to believe...
  10. I bought the Monk/Trane Mosaic Lp from him and haven't received it. This was back in August. I tried to contact him via PM, but to no avail. I know he sold some stuff here, did everyone he sold to receive theirs?
  11. Daniel, here's a simple solution - Pick out a trashed LP that you don't care about [you will use it as a jig], get a en electric drill with a drill bit that is a perfect fit for the spindle hole, get a flat block of wood, cover it with a paper towel, lay your off-centered record on the paper towel, lay the trashed LP over your record, line them up perfectly, and drill through the spindle hole of your trashed LP. Make sure to drill at a very high speed with a sharp drill bit. Dust off your now perfectly centered LP, drop a needle on it, open the brew of your choice, and enjoy the tunes. Problem solved.
  12. Well, friends, it's that special time of the year again. The annual WFMU RECORD FAIR is happening the weekend of November 3rd-4th-5th. I've been in attandence for the last 5 years, and am not planning to miss this one, especially now that I have curtailed my weekly trips to record stores South of 26th Street for one simple reason of not living in NY any more. Preparations have been made, day off work secured for Friday November 3rd, my record shopping messenger bag dusted off and small bills rolled up and rubber banded. The countdown begins! http://www.wfmu.org/recfair/
  13. I have the LP, originally released on the Theresa label also. I see that cd has 3 bonus tracks. Arrgh. I'll have to get the cd then, but I'm definitely keeping this Lp. John Hicks autographed it for me in 2002.
  14. Thanks, Lon! I bookmarked this and will order these 3 cds for sure. This sounds like my kinda music!
  15. My NM copy of the Trio probably is as noisy as yours! Very frustrating if you succeed in finding a wanted record in - what seems to be - impaccable condition and then it turns out to be a lousy pressing. Probably all copies of this title are as bad as yours and mine. I have mixed experiences with Riverside - some pressings are very good (e.g. Interplay by Bill Evans) and some are lousy, like the Trio. Could be mold/mildew in the grooves. I just ordered this stuff.. Allegedly it does wonders or moldy vinyl. Buggtussel - ask for it by name!
  16. Clem, you're talking about the Street Sounds, aren't you? That used to be my local joint[sic!] when I was stationed in Bay Ridge f/t. I still stop by there every other kislev. Clue - he's got some good jazz cds stacked on the floor under the jazz cd bins. Used to be more meaningful when he had the oop BN's, but now that they're rereleasing everything those goodies lost their luster somewhat. Vinyl is downstairs as you noticed, mostly dreck, but if you have the time you never know what you'll see. I got Moondog's eponymous Prestige there for $20. Only VG+ at best, but what the heck. Tatiana's got a laptop? Does that mean Onegin has a Mac? Whatcha smokin' these days?
  17. Looks like clementine fixed his keyboard. Good on ya, pal !
  18. Forgot to add - Bobby Hutcherson guests on Paul's Pal. JH does Mal Waldron's Soul Eyes for a closer. Nice!
  19. I got the Lp, but cd has what appears like 2 lengthy bonus cuts. Neat little vignette in John Hicks's oevre. I might be picking up the cd to get the bonus tracks, if I see it used.
  20. Thanks for posting this. It's fascinating stuff!
  21. Daniel, big spasibo for the info!!! Well, I have a Liberty stereo pressing of this, played it for the first time yesterday, liked Solal's Tatum-like facility and Powell-like imagination. My copy has some clicks, pops adn distortion from being played with a siding nail of a cartridge in the past, so I wanted to check out what my options would be as far as replacement. I'm definitely not spending $80 on the French Columbia, I'll tell you that. Also, the stereo pressing sounds glassy and very much over-extended, with Solal in the far left corner, so perhaps the mono press of this would sound better. Very nice LP music-wise. One other note - the applause sounds spliced in, way too thunderous, like Solal just played Brahms' whole piano concerto with his left toe.
  22. For a 4 mile r/t commute you might as well get a bicycle...I did. Didn't cost 10 grand either. Although some do.
  23. US Liberty LRP 3335 French Pathe "Jazz Stars Series" FPX 221 Which one of these is the original? I'd think it's the French Pathe, but I could be wrong. Also, is there any additional material out there that wasn't included on this LP? Was this ever reissued on cd?
  24. I asked the same question on the old BN Board some years ago. Since then I've come across several TCB Lps. Basically they're junk, imo. TCB was a budget reissue label from the 70's. The sound quality of the LPs I've played was pretty spotty, with some weird reverb added. I stay away from them.
