Mosaic made a fatal mistake of getting out of vinyl when everyone else were getting into it. And I don't mean the "original get-out", but the "second get-out". I think they would've done very well, had they kept at it. Just look at what some of their oop vinyl sets are going for on eBay. https://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_nkw=mosaic+records&_sacat=176985&LH_TitleDesc=0&LH_PrefLoc=2&LH_Complete=1&LH_Sold=1&_sop=16

The Paul Desmond box is back in stock
Dmitry replied to mjzee's topic in Mosaic and other box sets...
And I read it as 'there will be 8500 sets pressed.' This set recently became unavailable. However after moving warehouses we had a substantial number of components for this set and reached out to the licensors. We were able to negotiate a final pressing of this set even though the time limit had expired. This will be the final pressing of the set. Normally our limited edition is 5,000 copies and this final pressing will be 3,500 copies. -
COVID-19 III: No Politics For Thee
Dmitry replied to ghost of miles's topic in Miscellaneous - Non-Political
Am I the Organissimo record holder? I've gotten over three documented Covid-19 infections, spread over the period of 24 months. -
Jazz is evolving into the least popular genre. I'm afraid that Mosaic will soon close. Almost nobody is buying cds, certainly not enough to keep this business afloat. How many copies of Shirley Scott would Mosaic sell, a couple hundred? Jessica Williams Mosaic, now THAT is the project I would stand behind, 100%. And IT wouldn't sell more than a few hundred boxes worldwide. Not with that packaging, it wouldn't. People buy with their eyes. Mosaic's black and white style appeals to the old folks, not the hipster crowd. Maybe I'm wrong.

The widows of the Mosaic customers usually cash in on those sets as soon as possible.

New Soul Station XRCD Blue Note - out now. Sounds great!
Dmitry replied to monkboughtlunch's topic in Re-issues
Mike, well done! This and the A NIGHT IN TUNISIA are listed as Availability: Discontinued on the Elusive Disk website. Soul Station is the only BN XRCD I don't have. The other 23 titles of the series are still available there in limited quantities (last copies) , so place your orders before they are gone for good. https://elusivedisc.com/search.php?search_query=blue+note+xrcd24 -
To the Sun Ra connoisseurs, can you provide your version of a list of ten representative albums spanning the versatile life of the man? Perhaps if we have enough responses, I'll tally them up, and we'll find a set of ten or twelve common denominators.

Mate, he’s been divorced for 10 years. That maybe news to us, but not to him. The most ironic thing here for me is his lawyer’s legal complaint of his ex- wife not wanting to get a job, while she’s been receiving a $40,000 per month alimony. I’m sure she tries really hard to get that job, and has been subjecting herself to grueling job interviews for a decade, but so far, no luck.

He was playing defensive midfielder almost all tournament, in the absence of Kante. With Pogba and Benz, and the above-mentioned Kante, things would've been different for the French. Mbappe proved himself an amazing player, single-handedly dragging France almost the finish line. Lloris performed great, too! -

Why he removed Saka, when he was England’s best man…disagree with that decision. Harry couldn’t keep up with Giroux, but that wasn’t a surprise. Marocco for the win!!! Final Argentina-Marocco! -

That's English for you. To be the best at something, yet having not won anything. This was ....AMAZING. Both matches were what football should be about! -

Croats are really in it! Brazil is getting few chances. It may turn out to be a one goal game. -

No World Cup discussion?! Brazil-Croatia, my prediction 3-1 Brazil. Argentina-Netherlands, a tough one, but 1-0 Argentina. Hapless Germany, even more hapless Belgium (the best team in world history to win absolutely nothing), myopic Spain, are all gone. -
Since I wrote this, I've slowly gotten into wearing a wrist watch. In fact, I like it very much now. I have a small "collection" of old (worthless for collectors of time pieces) watches, a couple that my late father wore, a couple that I was given as presents over the decades, nothing amazing. I must say that Seiko 5 is a damn good, accurate and reliable watch. My almost 40 y.o. daily beater needed an overhaul. I can't believe I'm spending $400 to service a watch that cost me $30, but I like the watch, so I've agreed to have it completely taken apart, cleaned, lubed, new crystal and new gaskets installed.

He’s going to be at the Litchfield Jazz Festival with Houston Person (another favorite) this Saturday. I’m rather sad I won’t be able to attend because of prior commitment. That’s a hell of a group!

Thanks for your big heart!. Charity is one of the signature traits of New Englanders that I’ve come to appreciate in my 18 years here.

One of my few living favorite musicians, Mr.Peplowski is in a bit of a bind due to cancer. Those who've been following his Thursday night jam sessions on FB, are aware of his recent struggles. https://www.gofundme.com/f/6sw88q-ken-peplowski?utm_campaign=p_na+share-sheet&utm_medium=social&utm_source=facebook

Well done, gentlemen! Collectively you've got them all solved, save for the SIX (will be a tough nut to crack. Hint - the players are all American), and the SEVEN has proven to be a sleeper. I thought EIGHT would be a gotcha, but Sangrey made it out fast. Only one of you got the THREE right...surprisingly.
