  1. Some people really NEED facial plastic surgery. Survivors of car accidents, burn victims, birth defects, tumors, etc. This is, however, grotesque. What's the end goal here? If it's looking good, then it didn't quite succeed...
  2. I'm assuming someone will still masturbate to these images, just as they did thirty five years ago, when she orgasmed in that When Harry Met Sally scene. Just won't be me... https://www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbiz/article-12046713/Meg-Ryan-61-looks-unrecognisable-public-outing-six-months.html I mean, what would drive you to have a procedure that'll leave you looking like Mickey Rourke?
  3. I think we all want them to succeed, hence the intellectual nose-picking from yours truly. To make a premiership parallel, I confess to being a Leicester City fan...
  4. Speaking as a listener, not a student of music, I don't see how it's a masterpiece. It is a well-orchestrated and performed album of covers, what would be called a novelty. Can you explain why you afforded it a masterpiece designation?
  5. I think you and JAW are possibly substituting the effect for the cause. A mere fifteen-twenty years ago they were the Rolls-Royce of the limited edition jazz music boxed sets. Why are they a scaled-down firm NOW, when they were so much bigger THEN? I imagine this could be because - a. the principals are slowing down because of age, and don't want or can't handle the rigours of larger production. b. the business isn't nearly as profitable as it was, which means loss of financial muscle to sponsor upcoming projects. c. other. Would love them to continue for years. There is still a lot to do!
  6. Fad it is, Larry, I agree with you. But as fads go, it has been rather long-lasting, going onto its second decade now. Someone will correct me, but I do remember Mosaic still manufacturing vinyl and corresponding CD sets into the late 1990s-early 2000s, when few labels were pressing boxed sets on vinyl. I forget which set was the last one to be made in both vinyl and cd formats, was it the Parlan set? When they released Miles at the Plugged Nickel on vinyl in 1994, it was a brilliant idea. I'm almost certain they did very well with their subsequent LP sets. It's still not too late for them to get back into the vinyl. I know Bresna talks with the people who run the label; perhaps ask them about that?
  7. Mosaic made a fatal mistake of getting out of vinyl when everyone else were getting into it. And I don't mean the "original get-out", but the "second get-out". I think they would've done very well, had they kept at it. Just look at what some of their oop vinyl sets are going for on eBay. https://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_nkw=mosaic+records&_sacat=176985&LH_TitleDesc=0&LH_PrefLoc=2&LH_Complete=1&LH_Sold=1&_sop=16
  8. And I read it as 'there will be 8500 sets pressed.' This set recently became unavailable. However after moving warehouses we had a substantial number of components for this set and reached out to the licensors. We were able to negotiate a final pressing of this set even though the time limit had expired. This will be the final pressing of the set. Normally our limited edition is 5,000 copies and this final pressing will be 3,500 copies.
  9. Am I the Organissimo record holder? I've gotten over three documented Covid-19 infections, spread over the period of 24 months.
  10. Jazz is evolving into the least popular genre. I'm afraid that Mosaic will soon close. Almost nobody is buying cds, certainly not enough to keep this business afloat. How many copies of Shirley Scott would Mosaic sell, a couple hundred? Jessica Williams Mosaic, now THAT is the project I would stand behind, 100%. And IT wouldn't sell more than a few hundred boxes worldwide. Not with that packaging, it wouldn't. People buy with their eyes. Mosaic's black and white style appeals to the old folks, not the hipster crowd. Maybe I'm wrong.
  11. The widows of the Mosaic customers usually cash in on those sets as soon as possible.
  12. Mike, well done! This and the A NIGHT IN TUNISIA are listed as Availability: Discontinued on the Elusive Disk website. Soul Station is the only BN XRCD I don't have. The other 23 titles of the series are still available there in limited quantities (last copies) , so place your orders before they are gone for good. https://elusivedisc.com/search.php?search_query=blue+note+xrcd24
  13. To the Sun Ra connoisseurs, can you provide your version of a list of ten representative albums spanning the versatile life of the man? Perhaps if we have enough responses, I'll tally them up, and we'll find a set of ten or twelve common denominators.
  14. Mate, he’s been divorced for 10 years. That maybe news to us, but not to him. The most ironic thing here for me is his lawyer’s legal complaint of his ex- wife not wanting to get a job, while she’s been receiving a $40,000 per month alimony. I’m sure she tries really hard to get that job, and has been subjecting herself to grueling job interviews for a decade, but so far, no luck.
  15. https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-11874515/Saxophonist-Kenny-G-66-tries-end-spousal-support-touring-opportunities-dry-up.html The man needs our help! God knows, he has helped so many.
  16. I thought he would live forever.
  17. He was playing defensive midfielder almost all tournament, in the absence of Kante. With Pogba and Benz, and the above-mentioned Kante, things would've been different for the French. Mbappe proved himself an amazing player, single-handedly dragging France almost the finish line. Lloris performed great, too!
  18. Why he removed Saka, when he was England’s best man…disagree with that decision. Harry couldn’t keep up with Giroux, but that wasn’t a surprise. Marocco for the win!!! Final Argentina-Marocco!
  19. I was so waiting for Maddison to make appearance in the second half….and take the decisive shot.
  20. What a rollercoaster today's England-France match was!
  21. That's English for you. To be the best at something, yet having not won anything. This was ....AMAZING. Both matches were what football should be about!
  22. Meu deus!!! Hrvatska!!!
  23. Croats are really in it! Brazil is getting few chances. It may turn out to be a one goal game.
  24. No World Cup discussion?! Brazil-Croatia, my prediction 3-1 Brazil. Argentina-Netherlands, a tough one, but 1-0 Argentina. Hapless Germany, even more hapless Belgium (the best team in world history to win absolutely nothing), myopic Spain, are all gone.
  25. Since I wrote this, I've slowly gotten into wearing a wrist watch. In fact, I like it very much now. I have a small "collection" of old (worthless for collectors of time pieces) watches, a couple that my late father wore, a couple that I was given as presents over the decades, nothing amazing. I must say that Seiko 5 is a damn good, accurate and reliable watch. My almost 40 y.o. daily beater needed an overhaul. I can't believe I'm spending $400 to service a watch that cost me $30, but I like the watch, so I've agreed to have it completely taken apart, cleaned, lubed, new crystal and new gaskets installed.
