  1. Listened to Alegria again tonight, second time since I bought it some years back, and it's going into the 'for sale' bin. It's just not my bag. I am, however, quite fond of Shorter's work on the 'Glengarry Glen Ross' soundtrack. Is there a full-length album of his which is musically similar to the tunes on that soundtrack?
  2. Happy Birthday! What the heck...Merry Christmas, too.
  3. My belated condolences. Let me know if I can help in any way.
  4. Wow, someone still remembers! I humbly accept your birthday wishes, lads! Merry Christmas to all!
  5. 2 cd set. $10 post paid.
  6. God damn hypocrite sell-out. http://www.guardian.co.uk/lifeandstyle/lostinshowbiz/2010/feb/22/sting-uzbekistan The Karimov family use child labor to grow cotton and opium poppies, for chrissakes.
  7. http://www.foxnews.com/entertainment/2010/04/13/rocker-sting-stung-controversy-secret-concert-dictator/ “I am well aware of the Uzbek president's appalling reputation in the field of human rights as well as the environment. I made the decision to play there in spite of that. I have come to believe that cultural boycotts are not only pointless gestures, they are counter-productive, where proscribed states are further robbed of the open commerce of ideas and art and as a result become even more closed, paranoid and insular." Who are fucking kidding, dude? You got 2 million for that gig. What's the word for 'asshole'..in 'proper' English?
  8. On that fateful morning in '45 Seventy thousand were about to die In Hiroshima. Back in Washington a very lonely man, Who never thought he would lead his land took no joy, when he could destroy the world. Harry S. Truman, the 33rd President Said 'the buck stops here', And you knew exactly what he meant. I can swear he sings 'Hairy Ass Truman, the 33rd President" on purpose. It's from a 1976 2-Lp rock opera "Happy Birthday, America", or something like that. That's all I know.
  9. http://www.box.net/shared/ora9qpek5o http://www.box.net/shared/7tcb2bg5re Today, March 14th, 2010, is a day that will live in infamy. Because today I heard this crap.
  10. Crap. I drive a Honda Fit [American name for Honda Jazz]. I thought the car's engine was anemic, but now that I know it can actually catch on fire, I have a whole new respect for it. I've been thinking about a catchy name for it. Now I have it - A Flaming Sword !
  11. Merci, Brownais! Where's the bail-out for American Jazz?! The prez is supposed to be a jazz fan, is he not?
  12. Has the country given up on jazz for good? After all, it's as much a part of our tattered fabric as, say, 'Made with pride in the USA'... Is it possible to actually kill a musical style by neglecting it? Who's to blame? Dinosaur
  13. Light scoffs on cover, bumped lower corner of the spine, book is clean and tight. I believe this title is out of print. $18 post paid in the US. Overseas - add actual postage costs.
  14. Belated thanks, fellas. I'm doing OK, and have been concentrating a lot more on my other hobby - antique swords.
  15. Remember when $245,000 was REALLY A LOT OF MONEY? Because that's how much Edward Smith stole from the City Bank in NY in 1831. First recorded bank robbery in the US history.
  16. RCMP sucks. I've had these sitting in the customs for the last 30 years. http://www.liveleak.com/view?i=88a_1247537288
  17. Correct me if I am wrong, but the relationship between jazz music and Hem may be close to near not existent, from what i remember reading his books. It is somewhat surprising. He certainly have seen many jazz greats, and himself was a part of the Jazz Age. Has anyone got any recollections on him having written about jazz music? He was friendly with Zelda Fitzgerald, now what about Ella Fitzgerald? Did he dislike jazz? What kind of music did he enjoy, then?
  18. "My friend AVRIL..." HELLO!!! OK, I'll make you a cd-r, but just for you, noone else!
  19. Gentlemen, I wish this were true, but it was an April Fools gag. As it stands - GOTCHA!
  20. Turns out my friend Avril's father recorded Miles in Boston some time in 1961 IN PERFECT STEREO! He was screwing around with some Telefunken microphones in college and somehow recorded a whole 2-hour long session. Hank is on fire here. Amazing stuff and it sounds just gorgeous! I'm listening to the original Ampex reel-o-reel right this very moment! Holy crap!!!!
  21. Box has split at the spine [can be easily glued back together if you are not a total klutz], all LPs are pristine, booklet pristine. $140 shipped in the US. $170 shipped to Europe. I take paypal.
