  1. Righto, Ken. Thanks. MG
  2. Lionel Hampton - Chicago jazz concert - Columbia (CBS UK cheapo line) MG
  3. Thanks for bringing this back, Evan. I have the Savoy Jazz 'The hunt' twofer. Wasn't aware there was a complete edition. Do any of the tracks on the CD feature Wild Bill Moore? If so, I'd better get this. MG
  4. It's OK - we just think you're puzzled MG
  5. Really glad you liked the Cab. MG
  6. Much better late than never! I didn't think anyone would guess Fred Wesley Thanks for that! MG
  7. That place looks beautiful; and you're beautifully placed within it! Congratulations and good luck fo the future. MG
  8. Seems to have come from the book 'Knit yourself a concert orchestra and 100 other ways of avoiding paying income tax'. MG
  9. Complete Jimmy Ponder on Muse - complete Houston Person on Muse, including certain rude covers - MC produced a couple of his. Complete Willis Jackson!!!! But seriously... Etta Jones too. A 4 CD set of Johnny Lytle could be done. Would anyone want to buy a complete Sonny Stitt? It's good stuff, but... MG
  10. Tintin looks like a pug in that cute spacesuit! MG
  11. Thanks Michel. One thing that's noticeable is that JHS contributed to the start of the careers of quite a few musicians. As well as Freddie McCoy, there were Houston Person, Virgil Jones, Byrdie Green and Dan Papaila. MG
  12. Cal Tjader - Huracan - Crystal Clear Fabulous sound and energy! Brilliant sleeve, too. MG
  13. Thanks Bev. I see it's not a series. And indeed, only the usual suspects. And also, the usual approach. Don't think I'll bother. MG
  14. Nice article. Katea Stitt? Sonny's daughter? There's a tune called 'Katea's dance' on the Ammons/Stitt 'you talk that talk' album. MG
  15. Taking breakfast in to my missus this morning, there was Billie Holiday on TV - an ad for a series called 'Jazz divas', on BBC4 from 10 May. The ad ended with a photo of Sarah Vaughn so it looks like the usual suspects; no Etta Jones, Irene Reid, Della Reese, Dakota Staton or Chris Connor; not even any Marlena Shaw Still, I may have to learn how to work the TV. How does one find out more about forthcoming jazz programmes in the UK? MG
  16. I think we've seen LOTS worse than that, bad though it is. MG
  17. Lionel Hampton - 1948 - King Jazz next Gene Ammons - Nice and cool/The soulful mood of GA - Moodsville (Prestige twofer) MG
  18. I can only see one space vehicle in your post MG
