I've got a lot of David Newman's records, as a sideman as well as a leader, and today I thought how strange it was that he hadn't ever recorded for Verve or any of the Creed Taylor labels, because his style was right for Creed Taylor. But is that right? He recorded so much as a sideman that I don't trust my memory on this. And I certainly haven't got all his sideman recordings. So, anyone know? MG
