Never looked for this because I never heard of it until I saw it there (apparently issued in 2011), but they had it at Amazon UK, so I got it yesterday evening. Ibro Diabate - M'maloloe - DIane Sanussi Vibrations Good album, much in the style of the other 4 I have. But I saw this one, too, another I'd never heard of but which came out in 2003! Ibro DIabate - Esclave de l'argent - Syllart This is a brilliant album! Completely different from his other work. And today, the postman brought John Patton - Blue John - BN SHM thingy Really nice bonus tracks - very pleased. MG

Willis Jackson recorded four albums in one night - total length 2:24:09 - 'Jackson's action'; 'Live action'; 'Soul night live', 'Tell it' - 22 tunes, though. How long was that BG session? MG

Cover didn't come out - try this See, you can see it's a trumpet player in a starched dicky shirt. And it's a bloomin' LURVELY album. And not just for Jimmy Forrest; Waymon Reed is one of the unsung trumpet players. Years in the James Brown band, then Basie, then Thad Jones/Mel Lewis, then married Sarah Vaughn and was her musical director until he died. That was his only album as a leader. He deserved more MG

The Holy Barbarian set sounds pretty good, not that I'm an authority. That and the 3 Argo albums are all there is of Lazar; an underestimated and under-recorded organist. MG

It's SUPPOSED to sound foreign It's from a very foreign country. (OK, not as foreign as Indian, Chinese, Japanese or other oriental music, which I've never liked, but still very different.) MG

Cool Hand Luke Mr Cool Mr Gentle

One of my favourite bands. I have 17 of their albums (I think that's all of them). I KIND OF recognise your description but don't think of it that way. Mbalax is rhythmically very complex and Lemzo DIamono's is the densest of the ways of playing it. 'Marimbalax' is a Sterns compilation of stuff from a few of their albums (and is the only album that ever was released on CD) and, in order to grab the western market, included the most dance-friendly stuff. If you look around the web, you can probably find a few K7 rips of the band, including a 2 K7 live set from about '97. I don't think they've made any recordings since about 2001. MG
