Or Sonny Stitt? Damn, those bad words are so offensive.

Anybody heard from Ed Swinnich?
wesbed replied to ghost of miles's topic in Miscellaneous - Non-Political
I've chatted with Ed, via personal messages, a couple of times. He provided me with good information regarding some Mosaic sets I purchased last year. Ed was very vocal at the demise of the BNBB (I had a few laughs with him and at him!). His last post does seem a little eerie, in retrospect, doesn't it? Ed Swinnich, where are you, man? -
Who's Sipping What With The Bird??

Followed by a glass of Guinness. You know, the bottled Guinness that contains the rocket widget that causes the beer to foam as if it was a true draught? Oh, also enjoying the second disk of the John Patton Mosaic Select. Yeah, this has been a good end to a great Thanksgiving Day. -

I'm currently enjoying, post turkey & stuffing, a bottle of Fuller's ESB. Yummy! -
I have my 'personal policy' that I will purchase only those titles that have been remastered. Yes, my 'policy' may be shallow. And, yes, I know I'll be missing out on certain excellent titles that are worth listening to whether they've been remastered or not. When considering the RVGs, the Conns, Mosaic, the K2s, etcetera, there is simply too much good remastered jazz to trade money for. I have to draw the line somewhere. I drew the line at remastered vs. not yet remastered. If a title isn't yet remastered, I don't buy it. If 'they' want me to buy, they'll remaster it. Now, how's about an RVG of True Blue and The Gigolo?

I'm in the same position. B)

I recently received the Paul Chambers Select. It's a very classy & sublime set of music. Chambers has played on so many jazz sessions. It seems that nearly every jazz CD I pick up, there is Paul Chambers playing the bass. Besides the excellent music, the thing about the Chambers Select that astounded me the most was learning/realizing, via the liner notes, that Chambers died at only 34 years of age. Thirty-four years? I am 37 years old. I compare the length of Chambers' life to my own and it seems like he was with us so much longer.

I did it last Saturday night. I'm doing it again tonight, Tuesday night. I'm drinking good coffee, playing on my computer, and listening to jazz (the John Patton Select). What's my problem?

Masterhit smarter than Masterhit look.

The Illinois box is hanging & hanging in Last Chance reminiscent of the Curtis Fuller box.

New Selects now available for pre order
wesbed replied to Gary's topic in Mosaic and other box sets...
I'm waiting till other people get their copies of the Amy and the Pearson. I'm waiting to read, on these boards, that there is nothing wrong with the new Selects. I don't me wrong with the music, but wrong with the documentation and/or the disks themselves. -
I'm remembering when most of us here, on the Organissimo board, were refugees, Blue Note refugees. We crashed a couple of boards (including the AAJ) before b3-er setup his own board here. Yeah, I suppose we should allow AAJ refugees to walk through our grounds and see what they think of them.

I like Ridgeway in Canada; also whatever Tim Horton's uses. I don't believe there is a Tim Horton's in the southwest part of the USA (where I live). I had some coffee at a Tim Horton's in Columbus, Ohio a couple of weeks ago. I was talking to the clerk and advised him that Horton's coffee was far superior to the crap coffee sold by Krispy Kreme. He replied that Tim Horton's is more known for coffee. The Tim Hortons' coffee, while not being as good as what I brew at home (home-brewed coffee can be brewed the way you like it, after all), was much better than the coffee I've had at most other restaurant-type places.

Seems as if this hypothesis will soon be tested: Look between Bol and Brad Interesting... he still shows as validating as of 1:00PM (Tucson time).

I didn't notice the position of his hands till you pointed it out. The first thing I thought, while reading your post, somebody reversed the image. Or, maybe Eldridge played the trumpet in this manner?

I started using the word like, like, several years ago. To be, you know, like, humorous? Then, I kinda, like, got in the habit of it. Now, it's, like, a part of my regular script. Like, you know what I mean, man?

Ya, easy for you to say.

I don't like the term, it's a win-win situation. Yes, tired of that one. I often hear this phrase in the workplace. For example, "If we raise the price of our product because we've improved our product, and our customers buy more of our product, well... it's a win-win situation." Blaaaaaahhhhhhh!!!!!! Whoops, there's another one I'm tired of. The workplace. Shit.

I'm glad there is somebody besides just myself who noticed that the politicians and newcasters can't correctly pronounce the word nuclear. It seems like I remember Mondale and Dukakis pronouncing the word in a more nukuler fashion. Also, I've noticed TV people get the words Calvary and cavalry confused.

I lived in England when my Dad was in the Air Force during the last three years of the 1970s. I was 14 years old when we returned to the United States in 1980. Ever since my time spent in England I must have milk in my hot tea.

I think the Bennie Green is the best of the Select series (of what I've heard so far). I own and have listened to the Moncur through the Weston. The Green is my pick of the bunch. Its interesting, the Green is the one I expected the least from. Green has a great tone on his 'bone. I want the Horace Parlan set for Christmas. However, the only person who will buy it for me is... me.

Oh. I am not a good sick person.

Seattle's Best is my favorite. But, checking in my freezer, I found only Starbuck's tonight. I'm drinking Starbuck's, listening to Jack Teagarden (from the Bix, Trumbauer, Teagarden Mosaic), and playing on my computer. I suppose there are worse things to be doing on a Saturday night. B)

I just started brewing a fresh pot of coffee. Anybody want some?

Although it is not a bad song, and it is a song I like, I was beginning to tire of A Night In Tunisia. Then I listened to Dexter's vesion of the song on Our Man in Paris. My thoughts changed to, A Night In Tunisia, what a fantastic tune. Yes, it is the player, not the song.
