  3. Speaking of Jochum + Brucker .... here allied with Munich Philharmonic forces (from 1979, before been "take over" by Sergiu Celibidache) ....
  4. While not being a dedicated follower of Mr. Barenboim neither as conductor nor as pianist, this Bruckner 4 - which showcases the powerful Chicago Brass and still offers countless subtleties - is hard to deny ....

  7. Without hesitation YES .... probably known here - as witnessed via some recurring posts of mine - I'm (also) an enthusiastic Soul follower/collector, so believe it's quite telling that "From A Whisper To A Scream" would be in any case part of my "desert island bag" .... the album title giving track alone is worth the ticket of entry with this haunting strings and her broken but oh-so-soulful voice ..... IMO (one of) the best CTI production(s) overall ....
  8. Yes ....
  9. Thereof Sonatas 26 + 27 ....
  10. thereof String Quartets 12 + 14 .... (near) perfect execution and fantastic sound ....
  11. The Elememtal Reissue features the same six tracks as the LP version ....
  12. Art Farmer "Something You Got" .... excellent arrangements by David Matthews and some great solo work by Art Farmer and Yusef Lateef (on tenor saxophone !!) .....
  13. A(nother) masterful Schubert Lieder performance ....
  14. And spotlites are recurringly on Herbie Lewis - showcasing his considerable talent ....
  15. Thnx for the reminder reg "Love On The Sudan" .... my senior moments are obviously increasing .... IMO "Soran Bushi B.H." ist the strongest of these platters and the performance of the title track is nothing short of awe-inspiring ....
  16. The Steve Lacy collaborations "Duet" and "Call Notes" ....
  17. "Soran Bushi" was out on CD - but I'm not aware of "Knowledge Of Self" .... somehow thought there were three Billy Harper releases on Denon but probably I'm wrong ....
