  6. MOMSMOBLEY still here? Comment had a mention of "Robert Smalls." I'm thinking this quote by Sam "Robert Smalls and I went in as regular Navy men. We had a choice of whatever field we wanted to go into, Bosuns, Mates…" is incorrect. Sam may have ben mis-transcribed here. "Camp Robert Smalls was a segragated Blacks-only barracks and training facility at Great Lakes Naval Station in North Chicago. It opened in 1942; segregation ended in 1945." (from my sessionography) —This is where Rivers was stationed in Vallejo. Robert Smalls the human was from the 1800s, no?? Hmmmmm... Will check with Panken.
  7. Second in the series... http://nobusinessrecords.com/zenith.html
  8. ALL THAT BEING SAID... :-P Did anyone actually buy the Black Africa Movie Gold discs? If so, could you pleas email me at rl@bb10k.com so I can pull some details for the Sam Rivers Sessionography? (Publishing 2021) Thanks!

  10. Not allowed. Yet. But my G*d...
  11. The wheels are turning . . .
  12. I'm at rl@bb10k.com if you have any clues for me of how to track down (more of) these dates. The book version of the Sessionography is coming. Thanks! —RL
  13. Thanks for the props, guys. Just to give you an an idea... I went to Orlando in July, Ed Hazell flew down to meet me, and we spent 7 solid days, sunup til sundown, going through the RivBea Archive. Looky : : : http://www.bb10k.com/archive.html The top image is the bins full of text and images. Original RivBea schedules, tour itineraries, photos, etc. The bottom bins are full of compositions. There was more, rugs rolled with large posters, memorabilia in closets and drawers, etc. There are more images on my facebook page, stuff I began posting in mid-July. It's a LOT.
  14. The book is coming in a few years. Online seed doc here: http://www.bb10k.com/RIVERS.disc.html If you have soundfiles, dates, images, anecdotes, etc., please help me out. Thanks! —RL
  15. Thanks guys... had never noticed this. Rivers going to press in 2020. Spent a full week with the RivBea Archive in Orlando last month. Losing my mind here... —R http://www.bb10k.com/RIVERS.disc.html
  16. Oh! May I borrow the first image for the session entry? I love the way Whit's leaning into it. I remember being able to drag images off of some flicker pages, but that doesn't seem to work now. Please advise, and thanks! R
  17. Marcello! Yes, you may recall I posted some of those with the session entries. (76.07.04 in both Parker and Rivers)
  18. Hello everyone. I'm looking for missing sessions and play dates for my Sessionographies at bb10k.com. Any new info would be MOST welcome. Anyone with ticket stubs, old flyers, info on private recordings, citations in back issues of music magazines, old photos, etc. http://www.bb10k.com/CRISPELL.disc.html http://www.bb10k.com/PARKER.disc.html http://www.bb10k.com/RIVERS.disc.html (also RivBEA_Research-subscribe@yahoogroups.com) http://www.bb10k.com/SPEARMAN.disc.html http://www.bb10k.com/WARE.disc.html You people don't expect me to be able to keep up with ALL of these subjects at once, do you? (I can't even stay current with the William Parker doc.) As you know, Sam Rivers has gone now, so two of these have become matters of HOMAGE as well. Anyways... I'm obsessive, and it works for me. Thanks for your consideration! RL
