  1. Steve Cropper Norma Shearer Alex Cutter
  2. The Lathe Of Heaven - PBS (1980) Amateur hour production values and zipper suit type costumes aside, this is saved by a great story well told within the constraints of a tiny budget, making good use of 'brutalist' architecture and banks of flashing lights. It made me want to read the novel again.
  3. The remake might be interesting. The problem for me is that I thought the original was very over rated, despite good turns from Olivia Coleman and David Bradley. If you want to see a real humdinger British cop procedural then look no further than the puzzlingly titled Happy Valley.

  11. Intruders E6 BBC America The spirit of Lynch & Cronenberg is all over this. I have to watch each episode twice, partly because I can't work it all out on the first viewing and partly because it's so potent and compelling.
  12. Four. I thought it meant Clifford Brown too, but wasn't aware that trumpets qualified as ' axes'
  13. Billericay Dickie Tricky Dicky Dickie Valentine
  14. Nashville My favourite soap is back . Delicious, I love this show.
  15. Cilla ITV Forget Cilla Black, watch it for Sheridan Smith, who is very, very good. Not only a terrific actress but her take of Anyone Who Had A Heart was tremendous, better than the original Cilla Black cover version.
  16. Ray Donovan An enjoyable yarn with plenty of twists and turns. Looking forward to the finale next week
  17. I switched from bed to futon on the floor a couple of years ago and sleep well every night. I have no back or shoulders problems.
  18. Intruders BBC Now the pieces are slowly falling into place. I like this, it's very original and doesn't pander to the viewer at all. The little girl who plays a central role is really extraordinary.
  19. I can only speak for myself but there's no such thing as too much Mingus, each take of each familiar title is different to other takes. My suggestion is get it for sure. I seldom post in the music forums but Revenge deserves a comment.
  20. I've never been tempted to buy an IPod but have made good use of the Samsung Galaxy tab my nephew gave me earlier this year. It's a tad cumbersome to tote around but the rather good camera and video playback make it worthwhile. I use it at home for quick internet access.
  21. Castles In The Sky - BBC2 An interesting and well done look at the efforts to build a radar defence system in Britain, just prior to WW2. It succeeded admirably in making me want to pursue the subject in more detail, something the bloated Manhattan completely failed to do.
  22. Happy birthday. Hope to meet up in Oct'.
  23. That's more meat than I eat in a week. On second thoughts and after a careful look at the photos, it's more than I eat in two weeks!
  24. I couldn't get into it, the focus on security paranoia and interpersonal relations put me off. I was looking forward to some nuts and bolts physics, showing how it was done.
  25. Rewatched - State Of Play - BBC (2003) Excellent cast.
