Now $45 Not sure how that works for you (with VAT and shipping), but 42 € at amazon.de might be a rather good offer? 42 Eur is more expensive than $45. Yeah, I know, that's why I was asking about VAT and shipping - to me, it would end up cheaper for sure, but I woulnd't know about delivery to Israel.

Was something wrong with Beethoven's metronome?
king ubu replied to Blue Train's topic in Classical Discussion
Ya know, they had wigs with integrated metronomes back then ... and George Washington had false teeth of wood (and his mouth emitted a rotten foulish stench) ... but then wood was good in a way, since it did help Ludwig van catch some sounds, putting a piece of it into his mouth, the other end on the piano (guess if he had wooden teeth, too, it would have been to no avail, but how wood, ahm, I know?) -
Herbie Hancock Complete Columbia Box

Pre-ordered one, too ... not sure I really need all of it, even more so as I have what I guess are the most essential ones (Sextant, Headhunters, Thrust) and a couple of others, too ... but hey, it's closing time! -
The Paramount box from Third Man / Revenant
king ubu replied to cih's topic in Mosaic and other box sets...
Sure hope the bidder had his commas right! And Blue Train, you seem like a fetishist, too, always having to chime in with your facts not fiction creed ... it does get tiring. Your facts are very often one man's opinion (namely yours). It's not worth boiling it up all the time, makes the impression your a facts-not-fiction-fetishist with no life (and little grip on how facts and fiction are related or how facts are "made"). Sorry, don't want to get personal, but your on-going lamento is really asking for it. -

Albums named after a song that does not appear on the album
king ubu replied to bertrand's topic in Discography
Well, I know - besides, that's a good LP! -
The thing is, if you've buying other stuff, have rough plans of what you want to get when, it's just impossible to do Japanese at the same time, too ... either you save your money and then run to buy the next fifty, or by the time you'll have the first dozen, there will be 200 new ones out, and a year later, they're all gone again ... so there's that. I did get a couple of Toshiba's EMI reissues though and enjoy them (not speaking of audio crap, just got them because they were not around elsewhere), but usually it's a bit of a hassle even with items I really want. That may just be my feelings about it, but well yeah, there's that. And sorry Hans, of course I was joking!

Well no, that's on the LP -
Yup, their disc with Neneh Cherry seems to be huge in some circles ... (it wore rather thin to my ears, after five or six spins though).

God sent Indie Rock as a punishment (no idea what for, don't blame me!) and now we also have to suffer through Indie Jazz? Please, no! Another style alltogether, but why not try Tortoise?

Noble enough, but I take it, then, that you never, never, never ever buy ANY of the "Proper" boxes either and would rate them in the same camp. No Chrono Classics, no Timeless, no Hep, no JSP, no Mosaic of stuff that's older than 70 years, no Japanese reissues of PD material? This is getting silly. I've bought from jazzmessengers.com since they sell lots of labels that are hard to come by for me elsewhere (have to be bought locally for 250% of regular prices or have to imported from the US with ridiculous shipping fees), labels like Steeplechase, Pi, Tzadik, Uptown ... guess there's no way in making sure not a cent goes towards vending (manufacturing? people state it's all the same and jazzmessengers is part of it as if they knew ... it would not surprise to learn as much, no sir, but if you have secret record and proof, why not show?) PD stuff ... but then if you go to Starbucks, you will also silently donate to the NRA and other morons, so ... and remember, Concord is the label of Kenny the G'ster, so boycot them, too now, willya?
