  1. If they send them by airmail? Surface does take that long! Although I ordered the Byrd/Adams by surface (and I think they also charged the surface price only), I got it within a week or 10 days! Usually though I prefer waiting, since customs over here are much less keen on opening surface parcels, it seems.
  2. Vitti's worst day, that is... Now about this Nagel-Heyer release, is it good? I saw it in a store this week but had not time to get an earful!

As far as I know CIMP keeps all titles in print. I used to have vol. 1 of the Rudd but I didn't like it much so got rid of it. If you want any CIMPs you can order them from Cadence (www.cadencebuilding.com). ← Thanks! My want for Vol.1 is simply based on what I read... I'll listen to Vol.2 first, now! I was aware that Cadence is the home of CIMP, but not that they keep it all in print!

  6. This should help to clear things. But then, what did he play before 1957? Is this the same one?
  7. tyvm ← And that of course also means the personnel is different (Pierre Michelot-bass; Kenny Clarke-drums).
  8. believe me.. I will Cheers, Tjobbe ← Great deal, tjobbe! And a wonderful set!
  9. And here's an article (found it on the news page of her site) that may give you a bit of an image about her popularity:
  10. With Chet: And here's another more recent (very recent?) reissue: Also, if you check the discography page of her website, you'll see that them Britons at Duttons have several discs available. As I said: I don't know any of them, so don't take this as a recommendation!
  11. With Sacha Distel: With Edith Piaf & Jean Marais:
  12. Not that I know much of her recordings... only a stray track here and there. She sure could (can?) sing, but often she sang stupid popular stuff... (Schlager is the word in German... commercial crap) But this one is on my radar ever since I read some quite nice reviews when the reissue came out:

Found some ratty stuff in the sales bins yesterday: - Dunmall/Rogers/Norton: "Go Forth Duck" (CIMP) - Roswell Rudd Trio: "The Unheard Herbie Nichols Vol.2" (CIMP) - Archie Shepp/Horace Parlan: "Swing Low" (Plainisphare) - Trovesi/Schiaffini/Maras: "Let" (Splasc(h)) Now the Shepp may not be very ratty, but... it's more or less an audience recording, done on a portable tape recorder with two microphones, when Shepp and Parlan played at the Hotel Bellerive in Zurich. Sound is of that close warm sort that good audience recordings have (obviously the microphones were closer to the musicians than you get, recording from the audience, but still...) Shepp is in his big-toned mode, playing tenor mostly, inging on three cuts, and playing alto on two. Pretty nice! The Trovesi/Schiaffini/Maras (it also features Walter Prati - live electronics & recording engineer) is probably pretty weak. I had no time to listen while in the shop, and once I came home I saw the Penguin's judgement, and I gave most of the disc a spin this morning, and I think I have to agree. Haven't come around listening to the other two. I assume the Rudds are OOP? Or would there be an easy way to find Vol.1?
  14. That Quintet 1976 sure is a nice disc! Just gave it a spin. The only thing that would have made it even better would have been a nice acoustic piano at hand at that place where they recorded... but still, this is a good one!
  15. I'm with you here! What I have heard that circulates on CDR is excellent! ← Yes indeed! And the same goes for the Baden-Baden recordings! Other kind(s) of jazz there, but some terrific stuff, from those I've heard!
  16. Mike, the package arrived, just picked it out of the mailbox! Thanks so much for delivery and the bonus stuff! And thanks to Jim for the BFT discs!
  17. I hope the bonusses didn't make the suspicious ... Do Swiss customs ask for a declaration badget on letters? I know they do on parcels, but letters? ← If you mean padded bags: yes! Not that I ever heard of such a letter having been returned, though, because of a missing declaration badget... maybe the opened it and thus it takes longer? Who knows! I hope it's in tomorrow's mail! And now you get me all about them bonuses!!!
  18. Feliz cumpleaños, amigo! All the best, Agustín!
  19. This is a great set! And don't think twice about buying from Hans! First class service!
  20. zis little puppy? Guess what zis king picked out of ze bin earlier today? Passed it by a few times, already, but today I remembered the discussion about Ellefson and the Canucks, so I thought I'd take a closer look, and quickly I realized zat our very own Mr. Ted'O has written dem liner notes! Zere's a couple more of it at ze store, but I don't know when I could go and search through them bins again... (cost CHF 10.-)

Thanks, gentlemen, so on the list are: - Tristano - Sept Variations - Jade Vision How is "Inineraire Imaginaire", P.L.M.? Anyone?
  22. Thanks for the info, Hans! I assume that disc was filled with the session that is part of the Select? Or with at least those three cuts Lion/Cuscuna had plans on releasing?
  23. To Walk Among The Pigs King Missle (Transcribed by ear) To walk among the Pigs, To go where the Pigs go, And do as the Pigs do. To inhale the pungent stench of the Pigs, And truly savor the Scent. To sing the Song of the Pigs, To build up a repoire, To be one with the Pigs. To work shoulder to shoulder with the Pigs, On Piglike projects. To sweat like a Pig, And then to realize that Pigs never sweat. To wallow in the mud with the Pigs. To experience absolutely all that Pigness entails. To hear, To see, To feel like a Pig. To think, Eat, And smell like a Pig. To comprehend completely what it is to be a Pig. To fully understand that you, The Pigs, And all other things in the Universe, Are of the same ilk. And then, to weed out all Non-Piggish things, To fully cultivate and allow to blossom, The Flower that is the Pig within your Soul. And to finally stand alone, In the Garden of the Absolute, And pray, And pray, And pray, Like a Pig. *************************** Hans, in case you missed my email, I'm glad to report the set has arrived in all its glory (well, that's a bit of an exaggeration... they don't look *that* nice the Selects). Mike, I'll be spinning it soon, real soon! I had all but forgotten that the Quebec tracks are in there, too (how to find the quartet only tracks? probably by hunting that olde BN CD?), and will probably start my listening with these!
  24. Just sent in my order!
  25. Nah, that´s the problem of living in a faraway and neutral country such as Switzerland! ← At least I'm not so catholic as to cry out jesus on wordly things such as BFTs!
