  1. Jim, I really enjoyed reading your guesses and ideas! Now, I guess it's time for me to step forward and make on little thing clear: #2-4 are from the very same date - and for what it's worth: it's all there is from that date, so you got it now, folks! That cut which now had another guess on Don Ellis (not him) - I'm sorry about the sound there. It's from the air, not from a tape, thus no wear, rather I probably fucked up some settings when doing the transfer to the HD in order to get it onto CDR. #12 is not Joe Harriott, btw, but that's another interesting guess! ubu
  2. Time to deliver those hamburgers, buster! ubu (hungry as a, well, guess, not a polka-dotted giraffe, for sure...)
  3. Daniel, great idea to have a thread on Solal! I got Vols. 1-3 of his Vogue recordings (will have to get the disc with Bechet and Vol. 4 soon, too), then the album of the week disc, and one another trio disc that is similar to the earlier AotW: As you see it has Peter Erskine on drums, and also Marc Johnson on bass. Strong playing by all involved! I once saw Solal live, in a trio with Johnny Griffin (probably drunk) and NHOP. They all were clearly not having the best night, Griffin very tired and lacking ideas, lacking the slightest spark, actually, but Solal did turn in the stray good solo, though the highlights usually were the bass solos... strange night! I mean I love Griffin and Solal and I find NHOP okay (but far from my favourite bass player), yet that night I was looking forward to his solo spots the most. I will definitely have to check out more mid and late Solal, in solo and with large ensembles (of which I haven't heard anything but the few sides on that one Vogue disc). And of course, me being a fan of the Jazz in Paris series, I have several of those discs where Solal plays as a sideman, and usually is very good! ubu
  4. Each one I have has french notes followed on the next page by English notes. Since I haven't read or spoken french since the late 80s, I can't say at first glance if the english notes are the direct translation or are a different set. They are translations, yes. So it looks like there is indeed a run of 5000 of these, and the US discs are part of that same run. I have no issues with the packaging at all, by the way. I like it!
  5. I haven't left. But I guess I will take a step back now. And please don't come with any more of those "chill out" "relax" "get a life" etc comments - we've had our share of those last night, and it got awfully chilly, for me at least.
  6. .... with a big purple lipstick mark on his cheek. Thanks (I couldn't shut that dreaded computer down... it IS getting late)
  7. business-related. but as he's left for good now, it doesn't matter anymore. see the moderated-aric-thread for more.
  8. And I'm going to sleep soon... the nightly short nap of four or five hours ahead... just so much now: che dropped a pm, maybe we can sort it out, maybe not. I cooled down, and I do appreciate some positive posts (as opposed to the "chill out man"-posts which temporarily made this quite a chilly place). So thanks & good night from the what? Ah, blue polka-dotted giraffe...
  9. I don't think DizzySpells is actually a new member. Dizzy is not new at all, no. We're cool, rachel (only I need to catch up with all that Prince stuff lying around while you obviously are listening to it...) Thanks Daddy Pop for *getting it*... I didn't want to complicate things even more by posting links and shifting the focus of this thread even more. Noted & appreciated. ubu
  10. It would be nice to finish up a couple of projects. I've been meaning to get this gum out of my hair all day. Let that gum where it belongs and make an entry over there.
  11. I had several laughs from the few new posts that I've just read - take this as a good sign! @wes: still need to get hold of that one... @sheldonm: sorry, but I had to speak up right here, as the issue has been raised here. @Nick: I'm so sorry, I didn't intend that
  12. Thanks, Quincy! Glad you enjoy the JiP discs! And thanks again, Jeff. I know that, but sometimes I just get a bit of a different impression. Ignoring problems is not to solve them, and chilling and relaxing, neither. This got personal for me, thus chilling is not a valuable option, anyway. It would just be nice if friends would indeed stick together, instead of telling the one who got smeared (and the guy who takes this as the point in time to start a general reflection on this and other similar incidents that do happen more often, lately, than is good) to "chill out". Sorry, but really, that is no option, not among friends. Starting to feel a bit better again. Need to get these things off my chest.
  13. You are wrong, I did not bring up the thread check back and look at who is bringing up the thread time and time again. But because you like him and you do not like me, you are trying to have me removed from this list. Che. cut the crap now: you brought it up first in this post. And you yourself asked for pointers, others did as well, and if I refer to something, I obviously show my sources for what I say, so the link has got to be there, for everybody to be seen. Again that is not bullying, but merely showing where I get my thoughts from. Thanks, 7/4. And I wish this will be fair land again some fine day!
  14. 7/4 - most of the times such things happen here I do just that: grab a beer and chill out, put on some nice music and forget. But hey, read the Atzmon thread and tell me who here is uttering crap (and dangerous crap, at that) and also tell me who has no manners and who is not able to live up to a meaningful and polite discourse. I won't cool down right now. Rather I take my hat. pm sent. and replied... thanks!
  15. Am I bullying someone by merely pointing the way? And now che - c'mon, you are able to read, so go read yoursefl, I'm too tired of this. The answers are there, just look for them yourself, bully or not, I'm not your momma who has to serve everything on a silver tray. Again I maintain, this is not bullying anyone. If someone besides che thinks I'm bullying them (he said I won't be able to bully the others ones as I did bully him), please speak up and tell me! It would also be nice if some stood up and says that I'm no bully. Hey, we've hanged around here together for two years now...
  16. That's me, btw, in case some are not aware of it. You're all welcome to bring me some love. First thing would be to stick together a bit... (thanks to John B!) Oh. Hi Flurin! I've always known you as the King. I don't think you're a bully. Your loyal subject, AB Here comes some love... Thanks Jeff! I can really need it. I'm feeling awfully cold at this moment.
  17. That ducal string is part of the theme of disc 2 I guess it's too obvious, the second part of the theme is even more obvious...
  18. That's me, btw, in case some are not aware of it. You're all welcome to bring me some love. First thing would be to stick together a bit... (thanks to John B!)
  19. Just read the thread I linked in my post, it has been pointed out there clearly (not by me, first, by the way). This goes to che, too: why would I have to prove it again if you can read it over there, yourself? And this post is not a bullying one, neither, btw. Here's the link again: http://www.organissimo.org/forum/index.php...17265&hl=atzmon Enjoy the ride! ubu
  20. The part I deleted is not of any meaning in this new context here. ubu (major bully from zurich - those swiss are all nazis, anyway, didn't you know?) I support what ubu is saying here. I stay out of the Politics Forum, for the most part, and don't care to read what goes on in there but, once someone starts posting anti-semitic garbage, steps need to be taken. In my opinion, any posts that are racist, sexist, anti-semitic, etc. are attacks upon some of our fellow posters, specifically, and offensive to (most of) the rest of us. If these racist posts keep getting spewed on the board I would hope that b3-er would delete them and ban the person posting them. Beyond that, everyone should really take a step back and take a deep breath. There is way too much negative junk on the board recently. How about, rather than attacking another poster or getting worked up because of some interpersonal issues of people most of us have never met we all spent the same time and effort posting on an album we love or giving some recognition to an artist who hasn't been discussed recently. It would make the board a lot nicer place to hang at and maybe some of the people who are currently taking timeouts from here will come on back. Ok John I will even with you. Show me in my posts the points at which you think I was anti-semitic? I would like you to do this and we can continue the debate. Che. che: my above post contained no bullying. you have been told over in that thread where you made anti-semitic statements. someone over there even bravely tried to discuss with you. you did reply to those post, but did you relate to what was being said?
  21. The part I deleted is not of any meaning in this new context here. ubu (major bully from zurich - those swiss are all nazis, anyway, didn't you know?) I was in Bern and Basel recently such a great place and I also work with a Swiss psychotherapist The Swiss are Nazi's ? I think you have some serious historical gaps in your knowledge. Now Nazi gold and Swiss banks now that is another matter altogether B-) Che. C'mon, you don't know sh*t about me, my personality, what I know and what not, and I suppose your insight into Swiss politics and history are, well... As for your insights into the history of the Jewish people and the shoah, you have proven already that you have no clue.
