  1. Oh, sorry! I think I made a few comments in the rat. In short: I haven't been overwhelmed, but it's a good one, all in all. As there are Hannibal, Adams, and Sco, there ain't that much solo space for Burton, but the marvellous duo he and Adams play is great even if it's all for Adams, solo-wise. Will have to listen to it a couple of times... ubu
  2. Ah, ok, that could be - Frutiger and all that stuff's swiss... didn't see but crappy small pics of it online, but I guess that could be it.
  3. I read somewhere online that the graphics where "swiss style" - anyone knows what that is supposed to mean?
  4. I highly recommend all of the Last Exit albums I have heard but they can be difficult to track down for reasonable prices. I'm guessing they are all OOP now, correct? I only have this one, never crossed paths with any of the others yet. Heavy stuff, but good.

    Funny Rat

I just read on the Ayler discography site that the tracks from Albert Smiles With Sunny that do not appear on Prophecy are all included in the Revenant box, so all of the material will be readily available now. I mentioned that either here or on the Holy Ghost thread, and after checking the playlists of the Tree and the upcoming box, it is true, all there, and thus no need to get that release. ubu
  7. I just found out that a local library has a copy of this one, so I'll be giving it a spin very soon. I love all the ECMs a lot! Maybe "Nice Guys" is my favourite - that one track where they do the reggae thing is hilarious!
  8. good choice!
  9. ubu buying some leos... (as if he needed them...) John does very fast delivery and is a pleasure to deal with, just in case someone may have any doubts! ubu
  10. I thought someone was a Dolphy specialist of sorts It is availabel for $10 directly from Gunter Schuller's label GM Records That doesn't necessarily mean that someone has to have all that was released by Dolphy, yes? I'm a fan, not a specialist My "Tome VI" is pretty beat up, so I can't say anything about the sound. I'm visitor no. 1 too, by the way. ubu
  11. Happy birthday, Brad! ubu
  12. Happy birthday! Hope you have some garotas de ipanema celebrating with you (catesta, where's the photos?) ubu
  13. I'd be interested but can't afford it at the moment, waiting for the Ayler box and with the Krupa/James on the list...
  14. I love the Schifrin Sade disc a lot! Paid quite some, but for me it was worth it! Mellé's recordings for Blue Note certainly qualify! I love the first of his ten inchers! Some of those sounds come directly from Mars it seems...
  15. I enjoy reading all your comments, but still haven't gotten a chance to sit down and really listen...
  16. Couldn't find a bigger picture, but this is certainly one of the most "off the beaten path" albums I ever heard:
  17. Well Chuck, for us younger ones such a topic leads to the time machine thing without further thinking - I don't even start listing anyone, that list would continue endlessly... Steve - I've seen both the Instabile and the Guy New Orchestra. Instabile was good, but Guy was IT! Really the best concert I ever witnessed. The band played his new composition "Oort - Entropy" (I assume it will come out on record, though that's not at all the same), and it was INSANE! My wishlist certainly has Cecil Taylor right on top! Von Freeman would be close as well, but he sticks to the states, it seems... ubu
  18. That file should be up until Sunday afternoon (our time) or evening, then will be replaced with the next programme (Sonore!!!) ubu
  19. Oh yes! What a great disc! Getz also did that "Voices" album, released on this nice (but not essential, I think) twofer: The first album included fits the topic of the thread as well. There's some more on this 2CD set: And here's our friend Nate Dorward's review. ubu
  20. Here's a bit of the Bad Plus live at Tampere, Finland, October 31st of last year. Pretty good, in my opinion! If the link does not work, go to the site here: http://www.radiofrance.fr/chaines/france-m...ion.php?e_id=37 and click on "ECOUTER". I have to admit I was quite surprised how much I like those few tracks offered there! I never thought about picking up their disc(s) (probably because all the raves put me off), but I really enjoy the music! ubu
  21. Thanks, fent! I know about that site, but I always forget it again... a great one! I'll record it as long as it's still online! Sounds very interesting - I haven't checked any London Jazz Comp. Orch., and actually not much by Guy that is olden than four or five years, so I've never encountered Riley. ubu
  22. Never heard (of) him, and didn't yet ahve a chance to listen - any info by anyone?
  23. This really sucks! Has happened to me a couple of times - once they even charged my credit card right away, only to tell me two weeks later that they don't have it! There seem to be professional scammers on Amazon marketplace, who have everything that is rare, and once you order they don't have it... I suppose Amazon doesn't care. ubu
  24. ...which is GREAT news! I think we had a thread where someone (Bertrand?) listed all studio sessions from taht period... should be a great one! ubu
