Great news: Superior Viaduct is going to reissue The Willisau Concert, Tenor and Black Magic Man on vinyl!

I like Green. Not all of it, but quite some. Not so much into the organ stuff. My favorites would be Matador, Idle Moments, Feelin' the Spirit and Alive. I like his contributions as a sideman as well.

This looks wonderful. I'd love to do that hike - how long was it?
The total is 124km. We did something like 20/25km a day. It’s amazing!

Nice collections @HutchFan and @Teasing the Korean 😍
My storage solution comes from IKEA… I’d probably invest in something more beautiful some time but for now this is okay.
This is my vinyl separated in two parts. So these are in the ‘music listening’ room or as my two boys call it ‘dads room’
it’s forbidden territory for my sons and for my wife if I am not around. I have some space left but its definitely limited in some aspect.
Cds and boxed sets are in the living room. I sold quite some of the cds that I had as duplicate on LP. There was one closet that I have removed as 5 are enough for now. This collection probably won’t grow a lot anymore except for music that comes out exclusively on cd.
Pretty funny I found both of these pictures that are from12 years ago when I was still livening with my parents. Don’t look at how I stored my vinyl back than, the horror! Music collecting has became a serious business ever since then :)

interesting, i saw this review on Amazon which was slating the quality, so he's being a tad ott with his complaints here? i'd love for that to be the case, i generally avoid those HatHuts for all the reasons above
That’s one review on Amazon. You started your post with: from all the reviews which indicated there are a lot of negative reviews.

Wondering where all those reviews are then?

There’s some spoken word on Billie Harper’s Blueprints of Jazz album by Amira Baraka I believe. Not a big fan of it.

As with a lot of Mosaics I already own all the material on cd or vinyl and not gonna spend 100+ euros for a few bonus tracks. Definitely a pass for me. Leaves me to say that the music is amazing. Bobby Hutcherson was pretty consistent this period in releasing top notch quality jazz music. I love all of these recordings

Congrats Soulpope!

on a hiking trip with my dad and brother in Scotland doing the Rob Roy Way. To all the Scotsmen on the board I’d like to say: what an amazing country you live in. The quietness, nature and space is breathtaking and is exactly what I miss in a densely populated country like the Netherlands.

I love Pharoah Sanders and have loved his music as early as the 70´s when he put out all those great records for Impulse I think. When I was in my early teens I got his first record "Live at the East".
What personnel is on this one ?
It has Danny Mixon on piano and organ, Calvin Hill on bass and Greg Bandy on drums. It’s a Pharoah favorite being very groovy and accessible but also creative and original in sound. Pharoah didnt sound like an exact Coltrane copy yet but had his own thing.

I buy books but must say they are quite expensive. Philosphy is one of my big hobbies and I've bought quite some of the 'standards' from the genre for the past few years as I am teaching it in high school now as well. I managed to buy them trough my work which litteraly saved me thousands of euros.. With 40 or 50 euros a piece I could see why people go for an ebook instead. From a space in my house of point of view I have the same strategy as with my LP's and cd's: I only buy what I regard as essential. Less essential works I read on my e-reader.
I love reading: it's part of my pre-sleeping ritual and try do read an hour a day at least. It's hard to get my students reading books. Video games are a serious threat to both their physical as their mental health. I might sound like a boomer now but I see the consequences everyday...

That's a good record. I really like it.
Not really the same thing, but I like George Szabados too, in Hungarians from the era.
Yeah I like him too.

Nice one. Yes, I have it and was equally pleased when I bought mine. Haven't listened to it for a while but shall dig it out
Whilst talking about Tchicai, have you got this one @Pim? Not to be missed
Oh yes that's a great one!

R.I.P. mr. Cuscuna and so many thanks for all those excellent reissues.

Coltrane's Village Vanguard Box set is my favorite probably. There's not a single bad note at that set. It's one of the few sets where I really don't mind the fact that there are four takes of the same track on it.

Fascinating record from a Hungarian group recording with John Tchicai. I hear influences by Albert Ayler, Abdullah Ibrahim and Pharoah Sanders. Some free passages, spiritual jazz, free improvisation and compositional music. Pretty adventurous stuff. I’d call this my 2024 discovery for now.
Perhaps some prejudice of me but I did not expect a 1983 record from Hungary to sound so good!
Maybe they already know it but I am pretty sure this is the league of @mjazzg@Rabshakeh@soulpope and perhaps also @HutchFan
What vinyl are you spinning right now??
