Maybe for some obscure, but it´s always worthwhile diggin up some unknown masterly music. IMHO this one, recorded fifteen years ago, surely is a winner;
Wilfred Josephs - Works for clarinet (Metier) - Complete beauty but it is the Clarinet Quintet that´s the real stunner - one of the most precious written for this format.
Wilfred Josephs - Works for Clarinet (Metier)
One quintet and two duo sonatas - well worth exploring. Gorgeous music, lyrical, yet expressive 20th century stuff
Second heartily NYT piano choice; Leif Ove Andsnes album for Sony is gorgeous. Sibelius for piano is surely a discovery to make.
Bought this earlier this year and have been happily listening to it repeatedly. Strongly recommended!
Like this one, too, especially the title cut.
Wondering why "Rose Tattoo" has not been covered more frequently - beautiful song!
At least Hubbard is one of the few who have recorded it (dont know if he ever played it live).
