  1. Another pic. I'll post some more tomorrow.
  2. Today at 1:07pm, my wife gave birth to another beautiful little girl. 7lbs, 6oz and 20 inches long with lots of dark hair! We have not decided on a name yet, but we will soon. She is just wonderful, though and I am overjoyed! Both momma and baby are doing great! We knew my wife had to have a c-section this time. Last time she was in labor for 24 hours before they did an emergency c-section. This time was much easier and Alison is already doing so much better in the recovery. Here's a couple shots of the new little peanut!
  3. Happy birthday, Aggie! And what the hell is that!?!
  4. Come to think of it, I think I heard it more than felt it. We're used to having rumbles here since we're so close to Lansing's main power plant. It rumbles and grumbles all the time and shakes the house. I heard a weird sound, though, that sounded like thunder or somebody dragging a plastic waste container down the alley. I couldn't for the life of me figure out what it was because the skies were totally clear. Hmmmm....
  5. Most classic jazz albums were programmed by the producer, I believe. I don't think the song order of those types of records is as important as other kinds of music, say progressive rock of the 70s! Mainly because a lot of those records and just "jam sessions" of sorts. And of course with CDs and mp3s, you can make your own order anyway. One thing that does bug me about re-issues is when they put the alternate takes of a tune right after the main album take. Talk about breaking the flow. It's something that's been on my mind recently because we're trying to pin down a good order for the next organissimo CD.
  6. I did not feel anything, but perhaps that's because I was in the basement. My power went out for a brief second, which was not good considering I was messing with the mixes of the new organissimo tracks.
  7. Should be able to get rid of the hum with this: http://www.izotope.com/products/audio/rx/
  8. That's how I'm running it now. The tape hiss is not bad at all. Once I get it calibrated and I know how hard I'm hitting the tape, I bet it will be even better. One thing I noticed about this machine as well; the meters are totally unbuffered, which means they are probably feeding back a little bit of rectifier distortion from the meter coils themselves into the audio. Some people like that and it's part of the charm. I need to get the machine calibrated to know, though.
  9. it seems just like the day before yesterday that they were celebrating the 50th anniversary with a great concert here in l.a.!!! It does seem like a wisp of time ago that I saw a Blue Note 60th anniversary concert in New York--Greg Osby Quartet with Jason Moran, Gonzalo Rubalcaba (solo)); and Charlie Hunter/[forgetting the name of the percussionist who put out three recordings and seemingly disappeared] duo. Leon Parker.
  10. Floyd was pretty cool during that time period. Meddle / Dark Side Of The Moon / Wish You Were Here. Those are their strongest three albums, imo. In any case, yeah Bill, I have a Scully. It's a bear to work on, but it sounds so good. I finally replaced all the meter bulbs today and figured out why the tape was creeping down at certain points in the reel. It's running very smoothly now. I would not want to cut tape / punch in / or edit on this thing.
  11. UP because Greg found this video of Pink Floyd recording Echoes from Meddle. Check out the tape deck at 1:19. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u5sht8MB37o Looks like my Scully! How cool is that?
  12. WD-40 would probably work for mechanical switches, like the ones that used to be in old TVs (those old rotary channel selectors), but I would not use it on a potentiometer or fader.
  13. Dang. I'm sad to hear this. RIP.
  14. Homer: Oo, "An Evening With Philip Glass!" Just an evening?!?
  15. I just realized I had not posted pics of my new Moog here in the thread. And yes, it's being utilized (tastefully) on the new tracks. And here's a shot of the Moog at our last Founders gig a few weeks ago. My cell phone takes shit-tastic pics, but you get the idea. Moog madness!
  16. Ha! I love it! Nice photoshop work! We finished tracking on Friday. Now we'll be taking some time to mix and master. In May we'll probably open the pre-orders up. I'm very proud of the tunes and the playing. I think the vibe is much better than the last two, as well, due to recording all together, no headphones. There's something to say for mic bleed; it adds a natural-ness to the sound. Anyway... more to come.
  17. Can you play Freebird on it?
  18. Does it just playback samples? I'm partial to Clara Rockmore:
  19. I checked numerous times, too. Then, as luck would have it, when the site came back up last night, I lost MY internet connection until 3am.
  20. Man, that was a long outage. I never actually talked to Tech Support because every time I called at various points throughout the day, the lines were busy or there was an enormous wait period. For future reference, anytime this site is down, check the other sites on this server like www.rootdoctorband.com and www.big-o-records.com. If they are all down, it means the server is down. You can check https://www.hostingsupport.com/networkstatus/ for status updates. That site was my only connection to what was going on today. Bookmark it!
  21. You say that now, but you do not fully understand their POWER!
  22. I love the tagline. "Alias Meets 24" No wonder it sucked.
  23. And personally, I like playing in bars without that shit making the air unbreathable. And coming home smelling like somebody's ashtray (not to mention the smell of all my gear, and thus my vehicle, etc.)
  24. Don't show Randy!
