  1. You have not experienced my full nerdom yet.
  2. I should be more specific: Get the one for potentiometers. http://store.caig.com/s.nl/sc.2/category.293/.f
  3. http://www.deoxit.com/ Should be able to get it at any electronics supply company either real or virtual.
  4. There are a lot of free picture hosting sites out there, like photo bucket. Upload your pictures there and then you can link to them in your posts here.
  5. Since some people still can't get along, I figured I'd just add to this thread (and delete the other one) and say if anyone wants to donate to the forum, that would be great. Thanks. Let's keep this on topic, please.
  6. Don't know about the last part, but yeah... high-fructose corn syrup is in EVERYTHING these days.
  7. Yep. Like I said, my wife broke me of those habits.
  8. ... waiting for clem to explode on Potter ... ejp626 has it nailed. We caught a lot of shit because we didn't have any standards on our first record. Why? So you'd know whether we can play standards? Why does that matter? Do you like the music we're playing now or not? It made no sense to me. Slight digression: One trend I've been observing the past 10 years or so is that it's suddenly hip to put together Miles "Bitches Brew" type bands and play recreations of that stuff. Now, there is a lot of unexplored territory there I think, so nothing wrong with the concept. I just think its funny that its now kind of accepted by the "serious" players to do that. Or maybe my perception is skewed. I agree on the Chris Potter stuff with Taborn on Rhodes. Cool shit!
  9. Maybe. I grew up quite poor with 6 siblings, so we didn't eat a lot of prepackaged food. My parents had a huge garden and my mom canned and both parents cooked endlessly it seems. But I wouldn't say we ate necessarily healthy. Lots of butter, lots of salt, lots of frying, lots of red meat. I think I eat better now, except I am addicted to sweets. Side note: It always amazes me to see people at the store in my neighborhood (which is a generally poor neighborhood) buying total crap like Doritos, frozen dinners, candy, chips, those horrid Lunchables things, $4.50 per box sugared cereal, etc. with kids in tow. No fresh vegetables. Pre-packaged everything. It's a wonder if they know that preparing food is not only cheaper in the long run but healthier?
  10. Yeah, that was wild. Good, hard fought game between the Pistons and Suns. Some really funky calls in that game and unfortunately the most damaging one went against the Suns in OT (I thought Billups did commit a charge against Nash). But that's the way it goes.
  11. I just heard from him via PM. He's been having problems with his internet connection.
  12. Funny thing is, the guy that's selling the Moog just sold a Mellotron. I would love to see one in person, but I don't think I'd want one. I did hear a rumor that they are starting to make them again.
  13. I'm so glad I pulled out the real Rhodes for the intro to "The Bastard Songo" (real title forthcoming). Damn thing sounded so good through Joe's Peavey tube amp with the big ol' 15" speaker. In fact, I played it for a good 90 mintues today as I was exporting rough mixes from Cubase. One of these days I'd like to do a project with all Rhodes and synth bass / leads. That would be fun as hell! My Wurli 206 kicks ass, too. Too bad they are both so heavy; it's so much more convenient to take the Motif and deal with the simulations.
  14. Salt seems to be one of those things people just come out of the womb loving. I know Zora can't get enough of the stuff (that and plain salted butter). As a kid my family tended to put salt on everything without tasting it first. Alison broke me of that habit and ever since I am very judicious with salt. In fact, I rarely ever eat it on anything now including fried eggs or even popcorn. I used to slather those two especially. I do love me some real butter, though!
  15. The cape is on order. Nah, for real... I found a good deal on one and I might go get it in Detroit this week. I've always wanted a real analog synth and there are a few places on the new CD I'd like to use it. I actually recorded the MIDI out from the XK System just in case I wanted to re-record another synth playing some of the parts. I just gotta sell some of my organs... HAMMOND organs, that is. I've got three full-sized consoles (A100, C2, and CV) that I have no need for and they all sound killer. Want one?
  16. I's gots that CD. It's how I actually found out about Randy. The guitarist in RD at the time knew Joe and I were looking for someone and he mentioned Randy Marsh and I said, "The cat from the Jimmy Forrest CD?!" The guitarist had no idea what I was talking about, but when I met Randy for the first time he confirmed it!
  17. Actually, I think it's going to go towards a Moog.
  18. Problem wasn't the right word, hence the quotation marks. I just don't get why people have to be so jaded and negative. If the modern artists that are making the music nowadays suck so much, why bother listening at all? Just keep spinning the greats and don't worry about it. So the "media" keeps putting people on pedestles as the next big thing and they don't live up to the hype; this is new? Why get all bent out of shape about it and lash out at a guy who's making a living playing music. There's worse things he could be doing, right? I don't get the vitriol aimed at musicians playing this music. If they were really "fakes" or "sellouts", wouldn't they choose a much easier music to play and make money with? Sure, there are people out there who I don't care for, but I don't think they are "fakes" or "crap" or "schmucks". They have every right to play music as you or I or anyone does. If I don't like it, thank goodness there's literally millions of other things I can listen to and hundreds of millions of other things I can do. So why get all bent out of shape about it? The giants are almost all gone. They may never be any more. That doesn't mean that other people are producing music that's totally not worth listening to. Or maybe it isn't that there aren't any more giants, but rather that they don't look (or sound) like the ones before. Just my humble opinion at this particular moment.
  19. This thread reminded me of Fallout3 being produced by Bethesda. Looks like they're still at it: http://fallout.bethsoft.com/eng/home/home.php
  20. Perhaps this might be part of the "problem"?
