As most of you noticed, I have upgraded the board software to version 2.0.4. Version 2.1 is coming out shortly which adds even more features, but right now we're here. This thread is for you to ask questions about certain features, how they work, and suggest things you'd like to see. J.A.W. has already asked about the donation button. I will add that soon. I am also still working on the color scheme and I also plan to have another skin for you to choose if you're still not keen on the peach and violet. All these will come in time as I can apply them. One major source of confusion I'm noticing is in regards to the new quoting system. It's very simple and elegant, actually. -+- Using Quotes -+- To quote a single, entire post, just hit the "reply" button: That's all there is to it. This is the standard quote post function that we all know and love. However, you may have noticed an actual "quote" button next to it. It looks like this: When you press it, it turns to this: What this does is add that particular post as a quote to your message. In other words, you can add multiple posts as quotes to your reply and thus reply to more than one person at once. Once you have chosen every post you want to reply to, you simply hit the orange "add reply" button, just as if you were replying normally. You know the one, it looks like this: The you can add your reply to the various people you quoted. Does this make sense? Any other questions, just ask away!

has the layout of the board changed?

Please see this thread for an explanation. http://www.organissimo.org/forum/index.php...opic=19506&st=0 -
in front of the comma at the very far left of the screen. That's funny....used to wonder about that as well. ← I never knew you could do that! How funny! I'm currently looking into a new script to add that feature to the homepage again. The old code didn't work with this version.

Notice it tells you whether a poster is on or offline underneath their avatar for each post!!!! COOL!!!
-
Thanks!!! I really should get to bed, so we'll have to deal with the crappy colors for a bit longer, but as you can see, I've started getting the old colors in. It'll be a trial and error process and I figure out what does what. But I am digging this software! Dudes, check out "My Controls". It gives you a list of your recently viewed topics, among other things. WAY COOL!

Yes, well... it kinda looks disjointed right now because I need to do some serious graphic work. But that is for another day. I can't belive it's already 4am!!!!

Seems to work. Man, this software is frickin' awesome.

I'll give the ol' upload feature a test here:

Not very well, no. And it has an "Easy CSS editor" which gives you a kind of WYSIWYG editing mode, but I just read a big long thread on the IPB forums about how it's extremely buggy and can mess everything up big-time. So they suggest, until 2.1 comes out, to just code it straight-up. Blah.

YESSIR!!! I am still figuring out the skins... although this color scheme ain't bad. I'd like to get back to the orange and purple, though. It's just so... normal now!
-
Does it have to be a fucking gun? Or can it be the regular kind?
-
Now now, be nice Bruce. Afterall, isn't it the thought that counts.

Well, the instructions recommend backing up the database before running the upgrader. Of course, that means waiting a LONG time, since our database is so huge and we've already added 2,000+ posts since I backed up the database and moved it over to this new server. So... I'm trying to figure out if there is a way to just append my previous back-up with the new data. Probably not....

Banned pregnant graduate walks anyway

Unbelievable. The school should be ashamed. -
As far as I know.

Concerning avatars, it took me a few days to get the upload folder transfered over in it's entirety. It's over 500mb (and some ridiculous amount of files, like 6000+). That's because I'm generous and allow you folks to upload images up to 100kb in size. So that's probably why your avatar wasn't there. It took a few days to make sure everything was transfered. Concerning the password window, that was my fault. I'm trying to set a password on a directory and I accidentally set one on the main directory for the site! Oops! Obviously that problem is fixed.

I just got the "can't find organforum database" error for a minute or so. How strange? I think you're right... there must be some other sites on this server that are using SQL, probably as much or more so than this one.

James O. Smith Documentary
Jim Alfredson replied to Soul Stream's topic in Offering and Looking For...
Dang, we need to find this! C'mon, folks! There's gotta be someone in this community that has some info!! -
Thanks for the report. Please keep an eye on the info at the very bottom of the page, specifically the "Script Execution Time:" because that will tell you whether it's the forums or your connection or something else. The script execution time should be under 0. Last night it was zipping around at 0.05 and under. When I went to post this message I got this: [ Script Execution time: 4.2449 ] [ 12 queries used ] [ GZIP Enabled ] That's far too long. Help me keep an eye on things and if it doesn't get better in a week, I'll move the site to another server.
-
I gotta go to bed right now! I'll shoot for tomorrow at midnight, eastern standard time. If that's ok. I'll shut the board down. Should only take an hour or so.
-
So, with the new server running great (so far) but keeping in mind the downtime of the last week, when would you folks like me to attempt to upgrade the forum software from version 1.3 to version 2.0? I paid for 2.0 months ago (1.3 was free) and I'd love to use it. I did confirm that this server has XML support, which the last one did not (I found that out the hard way if you recall.) The upgrade should not take long... a few hours. Could I try Wednesday night?

Opinions on Acquiring OOP Mosaics
Jim Alfredson replied to md655321's topic in Mosaic and other box sets...
So far this is just a discussion, so I see nothing wrong. -
This place is running really zippy right now. I got a call from customer service at around 7pm, apologizing for the server and offering to move the site for no fee (usually costs about $75) and give me two weeks credit on my account. I told him it seemed to be running much better and so he gave me a week to determine if I want the site moved. So far, though, it's running great!
