  1. Not really, since I haven't sent the check yet! We've got about $300. I'll get a real total soon!
  2. From your comments in the Stevie Wonder thread, you're probably right.
  3. Fun fun fun! Recording yourselves is a great idea. It lets you hear what works and what doesn't. Keep on keepin' on!
  4. Since it's a parade, I assume it's a marching band. "Louie Louie" has been a staple of high school marching bands for a long time.
  5. After it's recorded! Seriously, we're working on new original material right now and I hope to have a CD out by the end of July. It's gonna be a funky good time!
  6. That means you're only 26?!? Damn Guy, I always thought you were much older by your posts. That's a compliment, by the way!!!
  7. Clarinet is a really sweet sounding instrument. I wish more people played it. How about an organ quartet with clarient, bass clarient? That would be cool!
  8. Sorry we weren't at the Joey show. It was beyond our control. I hope to see you at Baker's, however! Please come up and introduce yourself!
  9. Soulive be funky. Did I mention Medeski, Martin, and Wood (MMW)?
  10. There ya go.........GENIUS! Could be. Dang... if I was only a brother, I'd be a genius, too. Missed it by that much!
  11. And then there's MMW.
  12. Did I mention MMW?
  13. He should've been Defensive Player of the Year last year, too. Giving it to Ron Artest was bullshit. ...a year later and you're still whining!!! B-) ... a year later and it's still bullshit. -_- ....as my better half says to me......let it go, already! I can't...
  14. Um.... MMW

  16. Hey, congratulations!!!! Yes, Root Doctor would probably be exactly what you want, but I don't know if you're willing to front the bread to get us out to Colorado! That's quite the haul. But we are flexable. Shoot me a PM. We play a mix of classic R&B, old school funk, pop, blues, and originals. The lead singer has a voice like gold. He can sing anything from The Temptations to Muddy Waters to Queen (we did a Queen tune, by request, at a wedding this past weekend) with equal flair. He's something else.
  17. Why does it have to be great "pop" music? Why can't it just be great music? Maybe someone has, but not me. That's pretty obvious.
  18. I agree. What I was trying to say is that all the players I consider "real" are the ones that don't get caught up in whether this or that is or isn't <insert genre here>, but instead are just honest. To me, saying Stevie Wonder's music is "great pop music" is still doing the music a disservice and is sort of a backwards jab. By categorizing it that way, it instrinsically lowers the value of the music.
  19. I would start by not getting caught up in jive heirarcheal categorizations of music. But that's just me.
  20. Yes.
  21. Yeah, but Rush aren't handicapped, so they can't be geniuses. At least, they aren't physically handicapped. nyuk nyuk
  22. Apparently it's not hip to consider Stevie a genius. That's fine. I'm happy being labeled unhip. The man created timeless music, which is more than most who dismiss him can say.
  23. Chuck, I think you and I are in different universes, my friend.
