  1. My favorite use of the word comes from the guitarist in the R&B band I play in. He'll often start a sentence with this exclamation: "Dude, man!"
  2. This discussion was well-timed. I was actually thinking about this when I copy-and-pasted that article from the Jacksonville news station about the woman running over kids in her SUV. Down at the bottom it said: I left that part out of my copy-and-paste job! I did stop and think that maybe I should just provide a link to the details but pasting the whole article looks much cooler! I can definintely see deus62's point, though. The fact is that websites do make money from how many hits they get and selling ads. It's analogous to TV stations and advertisers. If all of a sudden you started a local TV station and started broadcasting re-runs of "Friends", you'd be in a mighty heap of trouble. And "Friends" is free, right?
  3. You do really beautiful work! Thank you for sharing!
  4. I can't find the actual auction (it used to be archived) but I found the text from the auction: Funny stuff!

  8. Police: Woman Charged With Attempted Murder After Hitting Teens POSTED: 9:13 pm EST December 5, 2004 ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. -- A St Augustine woman is charged with attempted murder after she allegedly ran down two brothers and tried to hit a third brother after a seemingly harmless incident with a golf ball Sunday afternoon. According to the St. Johns County Sheriff's Office, Isiah Grayer, 14, and 16-year-old twins Justin and Jamel Marshman, were bouncing a golf ball in a parking lot on State Road 16 about 2:45 p.m. when it got away from them and hit an SUV owned by Kathy Allen, 47. According to authorities, there were no damage to the Chevrolet Blazer, but the brothers went over to apologize, then turned to walk away. According to witnesses, Allen started driving to the other side of the parking lot, then accelerated towards the boys. "She did a purposeful U-turn and started to accelerate toward the boys," St. Johns County Deputy Ricky Domingo said. Police said she driving over several curbs and through the landscaping to hit two of the boys and knocked down a light pole. Police said she then turned her SUV towards the third teenager, but the vehicle got stuck in drainage ditch and the third boy was able to run away. "It's one of the most cold, calculated things I've ever seen in my entire life," witness Russell McPee said. Grayer was flown to Shands-Jacksonville Medical Center, where he was reported in critical condition with head injuries. Justin Marshman is at Flagler Hospital in good condition. Whitley was not injured. Along with witness statements, investigators found acceleration marks on the road. Allen was questioned, then arrested and charged with attempted murder. She'll appear before a St. Johns County judge Monday morning.
  9. There is an art to using the smiley.
  10. Please PM your list to me. If I don't receive your list, I'll assume that I'm on it. That's a fair assumption. Jerk-off.
  11. Funny you should bring up Rolos. I loved those as a kid as well, but I swear they changed the formula or something on them. I can't eat them anymore. The caramel-filled Kisses blow them away. The nearest thing I can relate the Kisses to are those Carmello candy-bars that are completey decadent. The Kisses don't make you feel as guilty, though.
  12. Damn, I had just put the finishing touches on my list...
  13. Mayer is pretty damn dorky. Especially when he plays. I ain't got shit on him in that department.
  14. Go to bed, Scott.
  15. Why is the audience a sea of white people?
  16. Is that Steve Cropper with Joe Walsh?
  17. That, too.
  18. I guess it's the Crossroads Blues Festival. John Mayer is on now... that dude can actually play. I don't care for his singing but he can play guitar.
  19. I don't even buy Pepperidge Farm cookies. I eat them all in one sitting. They are evil.
  20. Watching PBS and they have some concert on with Robert Cray, Clapton, and another guitarist I don't recognize (well, actually there are bunch of guys up there I don't recognize, but they are soloing). So how do I get that gig? Sitting back there, playing B3 on three-chord blues tunes all night with Robert Cray and Clapton? Buddy Guy just came out. Looks like Jimmy Vaughn is there, too. Buddy is a bad motherfucker. How do I get that gig? Damn.
  21. So, that Pistons/Spurs game the other night (Friday) was bullshit. Down 4, Chauncey launches a three and is clearly fouled by Parker (Parker smacked the crap out of his hand) and of course, no call. That should've tied it up, but no. Pistons lose by 3. Bullshit. But tonight was a good game... whippin' the Mavs by 16 points. Pistons are starting to sync again.
  22. Oh man, I think I'm going to turn diabetic by eating so many of these things! I didn't even know they existed until my sisters-in-law bought some last week. HOLY CRAP these are GOOD!
  23. Drums are usually recorded in a fairly large room and the engineer will usually set up room mics and add a little of that in to give the drums a sense of space. As far as adding something like that to the other isolated instruments, I guess it has to be done artificially. Like I said our last record was done with everybody in the same room, but the amps (Leslie and guitar) separated from each other and the drums. With the exception of the tracks with saxophone... Ron was in the room with us as well, so the drums and the sax mic were bleeding together a bit. So for the most part, we had isolation and were able to replace solos, but we didn't do that with one possible exception. I think I may have replayed a couple bars of my solo in one tune and I think Joe may have done the same. That was about it. We mainly just played, recorded a bunch of takes, and took the best take. Or spliced two takes together (if tempos matched). I really want to record this next record with everything in the same room. I think it's sounding really good and natural. Overdubs be damned. If we fuck up, we'll record another take. Want another shot at the solo? We'll record another take. We may splice two or three takes together, but it'll be a live performance. And I'd love to have Jim Anderson engineer our record, but I doubt we can afford him!
  24. Those things go for mad loot on evilbay.
