  1. Yep! Got it, Chuck. Thank you!
  2. Reading art history books via the Kindle isn't fun; all the reprints are small and in black and white. I'm currently making my way through The Age of Insight: The Quest to Understand the Unconscious in Art, Mind, and Brain, from Vienna 1900 to the Present and it's a bummer not to see the art in full color. But I just get on my laptop or iPhone while reading and look at them there.
  3. I'm closing this thread until the mods have time to clean it up. I want all personal attacks and non-topical posts removed. If y'all have beefs with each other than you can use the PM system. Or better yet email. Or even better than that, man up and call each other on the phone. Launching verbal bombs publicly via this forum is lame.
  4. First and foremost, if you don't know what you're doing then be extremely careful working on any gear that is based on vacuum tubes. You can kill yourself. I'm not exaggerating. The tube amplifiers and preamplifiers in an A100 are using full plate voltage at 400 volts DC. If you don't know what you're doing and touch the wrong thing, that amount of DC voltage can stop your heart. And the voltage is stored in the capacitors of those amps for several weeks even if the organ has not been turned on recently. To learn about repair of the electronics, I would try to find someone in your area who knows about repairing guitar amps. The amps in the Hammond are not that much different than regular tube-based guitar amps.
  5. Tonight at Yolie's in Ventura, CA.

  6. I'm proud of myself that I've only gotten into one FB conversation about the ACA today!

  7. Today's conundrum: To Skyrim or not to Skyrim?

  8. I'm outraged by people who defend Paterno as well but personal attacks don't help to further an argument. In my mind, Paterno is just as culpable as Sandusky for allowing the abuses to continue. I don't believe in heaven or hell but if there is a hell, I hope Paterno's in it.
  9. Back in the studio today to finish up. Fun sessions.

  10. Session at Kingsize Soundlabs in LA today.

  11. I got one around Oct of last year; it just made sense for all the traveling I do. I would bring three or four books with me (taking up space in my luggage) and read them within the first two weeks of being out on the road. Then I'd have nothing else to read for the rest of the trip. The Kindle makes it so easy to read multiple books at a time, preview books, and purchase new ones. I love it.
  12. Sunday night performing at Saint Rocke in Hermosa Beach!!! Yeah buddy!

  13. The Coach House tonight in San Juan Capistrano, CA. On a double-bill with Donavon Frankenreiter. 8pm. Rock n' roll!

  14. Why am I cursed to want to play only music that is financially nonviable? I've been actively pursuing the idea of forming a prog band. Am I insane?

  15. Right now, to me at least, it seems the only answer is to get paid beforehand. Crowd-sourcing and the like. Like my music? Want me to make more? Than pay upfront.
  16. Mob mentality, which is pre-programmed. Most people are sheep, kids even more so. See: Florida A&M Marching Band hazing incident. One person starts shit, the others follow because they have not been taught to think for themselves. It's a failure of our society as a whole, which is set up to breed conformity.
  17. Same thing when WBEZ in Chicago switched over to all talk. Just what we all need; more propaganda and talking heads!
  18. We're all set for this trimester. I'll be hitting you guys up again in a couple months.
  19. I thought this was a well-rounded response to the essay. http://www.salon.com/2012/06/20/steal_this_album_what_happens_if_no_one_pays_for_music/
  20. If I had a time machine, the last thing I'd think about is producing a Peggy Lee date on CTI.
  21. I've had no issues with checks (cheques?) from Canada. My bank just holds them until the funds clear. No big deal.
  22. I thought you didn't have to create an account? If it's too much hassle, send a check or don't worry about it. Thanks!
  23. Working on Zora's latest opus, The Carrot Song, to be debuted soon.

  24. I started reading this thread and thought for a moment that couw was back.
  25. I think the moderators are "prickly" because almost every act of moderation here is greeted with personal indignation. That gets a little tiring, especially for folks who are doing a thankless job. It's one of the major reasons, if I'm not mistaken, that Hans retired. Anyway, yes there's another RK thread in the Politics forum. It's undeniably a highly charged issue, so I think it's appropriate to have a thread there.
