Brownie, unfortunately it is possible to do these stores in 2hrs but this means ignoring the vinyl, leaping whole sections and making some pretty snap decisions - helped along by a kind and generous but increasingly impatient girlfriend.... On another trip to PJC I came out after spending an hour in there to be told by my girlfriend (who had been sitting on the step taking in the sunshine) that she'd seen a bunch of topless but body painted female models taking a cigarette break outside a studio opposite, thought about coming to tell me (I said she was kind) but looked back into the shop and thought I looked so happy sifting through the stock that she decided not to disturb me !

John, I was there also. You should have stood up and shouted "Organissimo" to make your presence known. I agree with your comments. I was initially surprised at the obvious lack of preparation but did really enjoy the show. An interesting comment from my girlfriend, who is not a big jazz fan (and dislikes free jazz intensely) but comes along to the odd gig out of the kindness of her heart. She said that although it was sometimes a little bit too 'free' for her, she did 'get it' on a emotional level and really enjoyed the big band element being chucked into the mix. A direct quote from her was "almost as good as Bobby Watson" !

I had a sitaution where customs charged duty incorrectly (the supplier had included shipping in the stated total). I rang Customs and they sent me a claim form. I sent them copies of the invoice and packaging to show the error and they sent me a cheque. Frankly there are more important things to worry about but I guess I had a bee in my bonnet about it (and a lower income as well).
