Somehow missed all of the drama at the time.....what was the avatar? it was the flash gif that rostasi used ages and ages ago of a nebishy black line drawing character at the computer proceeding to smash his entire body into smithereens on the keyboard. it is really a beautiful little piece of animation.

Aren't those Ray Nitschke's tube socks!? -
The Mendes I believe is his early Philips / Bossa Rio works compiled into a best of. Looks like the Pure Bossa Nova was a full blown import series a few years ago and has been issued by Verve with catchier cover art?

I'd lay off the meatballs next time. Them things play tricks with your mind. There is actually an ingredient additive that prevents you from understanding the construction directions when you try to build your purchase at home. -

I just heard this in it's entirety and must say there is no reason on the face of this earth that this monster is not readily available for everybody! -
Any comic book fans in here?

If you're in it for the pictures, my favorite recent comic slash illustrator has to be James Jean. The guy is a god of hands! go out and grab his most recent compilation above. http://www.jamesjean.com/ -

Very, very sorry to hear. My sympathies to you and your family and friends. -
With coconut? nah, our dog is black so I went with the dark fudge icing. altho during one party when he was a pup I fashioned a tootsie roll with tapered ends and reprimanded the dog before picking it up off the floor and gulping it down. screaming girls all around!

OK to be serious. My youngest and I have watched the other contest show a few times - I have no idea what it is called - and we both love it. This Ace one only a couple times. The former takes a group of six designers and a helper or two and they have to turn around a cake in eight hours after a brief interview of the gig they are vying for. Going from base idea to sketches to flushing it out is great entertainment and that you really feel the heat. Watching these sculptures come to life and seeing the deadline that the folks are under is much more appealing than that Iron Chef thing to me. Plus they have to make the cake taste good as that is all part of the deal - which reminds me that I need to look up "ganache". The Ace is a whole nuther thing. That guy's work load is insane but I don't think he has the chops as much as some of the other independent designers you see on that other show. His cakes are very much a bit more garish and in yer face. But hey, he has a saws-all and knows how to use it. Lo be it for me to be a critic - I'd love that kind of workload and know that I just gotta get in there and do it every day. I do enjoy cobbling up a good cake for the kiddies birthdays. Last year's was a two betty-crocker box fully dimensional chihuahua terrier mix ... there were a lot of toothpicks holding that puppy together. Not quite the Ace but it was moist!

Why did the chicken cross the road
Man with the Golden Arm replied to Christiern's topic in Miscellaneous - Non-Political
for conn: Bill Belichick: "I have no comment on whether I crossed the road or not but will only say that I am looking forward to possibly crossing the road better next week, but other than that I have no more to say." (crosses road off camera) -
I found the Mormon version of that show I was thinking of...

Love that Cake Off show too! about the same thing - they have to build a cake for some wedding folks or some teen's birthday party blah blah and then that gal Giada De Laurentiis who makes yer Rachel Ray look like chopped liver is a taster. the Ace guy does have the perfect workplace ... art and chocolate ... I'd prefer to see them Miami / LA tattoo gals doing it on a cake tho ... maybe a whole new reality show where all the reality shows are rolled into one!?

I wonder if anyone here has any of those "first vinyls" Vogue picture discs? I have one that I got a long long time ago - it's very cool! -

Sports: 2008 NBA Playoffs
Man with the Golden Arm replied to Soulstation1's topic in Miscellaneous - Non-Political
Last time I went to an NBA game was opening night against the Celtics at the Cleveland Coliseum back in '74. Buddy calls yesterday with front row center court balcony seats at the Garden. Lebron scores 12 and misses a friggin' textbook-watch-Wilt-fer-gosh-sakes finger-roll lay with 20 seconds of what was just a trainwreck of a game. At least the cheerleaders and the guys behind the crushing sonic antics of the NBA experience came to play. Nike needs to rethink them lead insoles. Nathans with kraut was good. -
this does sound very good! saw this on DGA but passed it by ... I've reconsidered! more samples at their blog: http://analogafrica.blogspot.com/2008/01/a...can-scream.html edit: looks like da bastids bounced the rate $7 bucks!!!
